TRANSCRIPT
When Methodist Healthcare Ministries was founded, the board of directors envisioned a
program where those who had no other means for health care could go to find help; a program
rooted in community and in faith treating the whole person – body, mind and spirit.
From that vision, the Wesley Nurse program was created and 20 years later more than 80 faith
community nurses, or Wesley Nurses, are located at congregations small and large throughout
74 counties in South Texas. Wesley Nurses minister to the needs of their community by
educating, empowering and seeking solutions to the issues facing its residents.
More than a registered nurse, they are a trusted source and a familiar face. They provide aide
when needed, and comfort when desired. They continue Methodist Healthcare Ministries’ faith
tradition of tending to the needs of the least served.
