    What is Hand Shake?

    Hand shake occurs when

    - taking pic in a dark place,- with slow shutter speed,- camera moves while theshutter is open

    It happens more often with compact cameras,for they are light-weighted and not fixed when shooting.

    Mechanism of Hand Shake

    When does it happen?

    -It happens when shutter speed goes lower than 1/f (35mm)

    ex) DSC-T7

    - Hand shake happens when the shutter speedgoes slower than 1/40 for the wide end.

    (1/120 for the tele end)

    - How dark you can go depends on the F

    number / ISO sensitivity.

    Mechanism of Hand Shake

    Hand shake is measured by

    -Average angle of hand shake is around0.3~ 0.5.

    How do we prevent Hand Shake?

    There are two ways to prevent Hand shake

    Image Stabilizer- Cancel out the Hand shake by movingthe lens to adjust the light angle

    Higher Sensitivity- Keeps the shutter speed higher byincreasing the sensitivity (ISO)

    -The risk of hand shake is lesser when the sensitivity is high,but the noise increases along with the sensitivity and tends to

    destroy the picture quality.
