Fall Festivities at DVVH
Prelude: Fall brings change
The DVVH staff has been working diligently to bring back many of the cele-
brations and traditions of years past, while taking into account the needed
precautions and modifications due to COVID-19.
After a lively Harvest/Halloween season featuring multiple caliber events,
staff is focused on making the holiday season special for our residents dur-
ing this difficult time.
This year we will be decorating not only the inside of the home, but we will
be lighting ten large trees outside the home. We have all new high quality
indoor trees thanks to Balsam Brands. Several veterans organizations will
be sending quality decorations from their members to support a “post” tree
inside the home.
Modified planning is already set for our annual Thanksgiving and Christmas
dinners. We are looking forward to giving our residents a reason to smile.
We will be giving the residents individualized gifts with the help of St.
Anselm’s Parish, American Legion Post 148, and other friends of DVVH.
We thank everyone for their continued support and concern. We look for-
ward to the day that we can return to having celebrations with the entire
DVVH community.

Autumn has arrived and the colors are beautiful this year. Despite Covid-19 we were able to hold many events for our residents. Events included the Navy Birthday Party, Monte Carlo Day, Afternoon Happy Hours, bingo and morning exercise. We also celebrated the 102nd birthday of one of our residents with a lunch-eon. A Trunk or Treat was held for our residents on Main Street with tables set up and decorated by each department. The residents visited the tables and picked up their special goodies. We also had a Halloween Cos-tume Parade with the staff in costume visiting the units. The residents love this annual event.
We are still in Covid protection mode, but we are con-tinuing to keep our residents entertained.
I want to thank all of the staff for their hard work to make our facility the best for our veterans during this pandemic.
Thank you.
Peter
