A friend once mentioned that the Sufis enjoy their birthdays for 10 days before and 10 days after, a total of 21 days of celebration! This resonated with me, I seem to get giddy around my birthday. I feel lucky to be in this world. The joy and gratitude percolates each year for more than one day.

When I met my husband, I was inspired to share this tradition by giving him a card each of the 21 days. Iʼve kept this up for 6 years, making a few cards and buying the rest. This year I thought it would be cool to make each of the cards. He was thrilled to get a handmade card over and over and over.

After I finished the 12th card I was running out of steam so I pulled out some of the cards Iʼve made over the years that Iʼve stashed away for myself. Along with the vintage cards, this is the collection so far. Iʼm still a few short but Iʼll get them done, his celebration will last even longer than 21 days :-)

These are absolutely gorgeous, Christine -- and what a wonderfulidea! I've always believed in spreading out the birthday celebration! Ididn't know anyone did it "officially!"
