TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

“Behold, the virgin shall become pregnant and give birth to a Son, and they shall call His name Emmanuel — which, when translated, means, God

with us.” (Matthew 1:23, AMP)

TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victo-ria

In the Bible, Jesus has many names that identify His character. One

of those names is Emmanuel, which means “God with us.” Before Jesus came to earth, the Spirit of God

resided in the temple. The people had to go through all kinds of rituals to

become clean enough to go near to Him. Today, as believers, we are the temple of the Holy Spirit. When we

accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, He is the one who cleanses us and makes His home in our hearts. He

becomes one with us, closer than the air we breathe.

Isn’t it good to know that God is al-ways with us? His peace is always with us. His joy is always with us. His power

is always with us, and His victory is always with us. The next time you feel

alone, think about this scripture. Know that He is near because you serve Emmanuel — the God who is

always with you!

TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria When you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, not only is your eternity secure, but you immediately become a child of the Most High God. You instantly have an Ev-erlasting Father! Think about that word everlasting. That means before the begin-ning of time, the Father was there. He was waiting for you to accept Him and become

a child of His.

I can only imagine that God was anticipat-ing that day just like a father would an-ticipate the birth of his child in the natu-ral. I can imagine that each day He would

think, “Is it today?”

I don’t know what your experience has been with your earthly father, but God is a good and perfect Father. He loves you with an everlasting love. He loves every-thing about you so much that He notices when a single hair falls from your head. One of the definitions of the word ‘contrite’ means- filled with a sense of guilt and the

desire for atonement; penitent. God Jehovah proclaimed to be the ‘GREAT I AM’. He spoke

through the prophet Isaiah and said, “For this is what the high and exalted One says-he who lives forever, whose name is holy: I live in a high and holy place, but also with the one who is contrite

and lowly in spirit, to revive the heart of the contrite.” God saw a need a world that needed a savior, yes the ‘One’ that is ‘high’, ‘exalted’, ‘lives

forever’, ‘holy’, yes this our God his attributes cannot me measured. He saw a need and pro-

vided help for the need, ‘Immanuel’. Immanuel- is Hebrew in origin and it’s meaning is God with

us. He saw a need and said, ‘but also with the one who is contrite and lowly in spirit, to revive

the heart of the contrite.’ Yes, our God always good news.

It is written in the New Testament Holy Bible in Matthew 2:11 On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. ‘Immanuel’ God with us, this is Christmas, the ‘One’ that is ‘high’, ‘ex-alted’, ‘lives forever’, ‘holy’, left his place of glory and came down to be with us. Our milestones and all we accomplish or not is because he saw

a reason you and I. Family, friends, I do not need to say more, I’m sure in all our ups there has been downs, but rest assured ‘Immanuel’

God with us, and if this season you have a need, deeper than what any material thing could fill, he is able. His name is JESUS, savior God is my salvation. So this Christmas tell people he came

to be with us, in him you will be “living the dream”, so if your spirit is ‘lowly’ and anyone is ‘contrite’ JESUS will ‘revive the heart of the contrite’, Merry Christmas he is good news.

GOOD NEWS!

I wonder what is a milestone you have accom-plished that means a lot to you? Perhaps in your career, financial stability, a college

degree, purchase of your first house, or something that means the world to you. At my work place when people greet each and

asked how are you doing, a reply that I often times I hear is “ok, just living the dream,

just living the dream.” We are all unique and set goals to accomplish milestones that as I

said perhaps it means the world to us. And of course, as I have said it before what’s impor-tant to you is important to God as long as it is in line with his principles. No doubt about it is great to hear and see people accomplish

their milestones, the part we do not know many times is what it took for many to reach

their milestones. Can I tell you today you and I are the reason for this season, I have

good news.

It is written in the Old Testament Holy Bible in Isaiah 57:15 “For this is what the high and exalted One says-he who lives

forever, whose name is holy: I live in a high and holy place, but also with the one who

is contrite and lowly in spirit, to revive the heart of the contrite.” Isaiah prophesied 700 years earlier that a virgin would give birth

to a baby the Prince of peace, ‘Immanuel’. In last weeks article I wrote on how num-

bers in the bible carry a significance more than just of a quantitative value, same with names, a person was given a name that identi-fied him or her with certain characteristics of significance. Take Isaiah the prophet his

name is Hebrew in origin and it’s meaning is- Jehovah has saved. At a time when people needed to hear words of hope despite being

at fault God tells Isaiah I’m sending someone ‘Immanuel’ bringing tidings of good news.

Wise Men Still Seek Him

After Jesus was born, the Bible tells us in Matthew chapter two that Wise Men came from the East to bow before Him and worship Him. They went to great lengths just to get a glimpse of the Child and traveled a long distance for many months, following the star. When they saw Him, they were so overwhelmed. The scripture says they fell on their faces to

honor and worship Him.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. That means that we should have a reverential honor and respect for Him — just like the Wise Men did. We are wise when we set everything else in life aside in order to seek Him. We are wise when we worship Him and give Him everything that we are. We are wise when we take time to honor Him. Remember, God is a rewarder of the people who diligently seek after Him. As you continue to put Him first in all you do, you’ll increase in wisdom and discernment, and you’ll move forward into the life of blessing He has

in store for you.

Father in heaven, today I choose wisdom by choosing to honor You. I put You first in my heart, my mind, my emotions and my actions. Show me Your ways that I may walk with You and acknowledge You in

There’s a story in scripture about a time when the children wanted to

run to Jesus, but the adults, thinking they were helping, kept them away from Him. When Jesus saw what was

going on, He said, “Let them come to me!” Jesus loves children. He says

that children are the example of faith and trust that we should fol-

low. Like the children, we should always run to Him. We should always

trust Him. We should always find safety in His loving arms.

It’s interesting that the scripture says “the Kingdom of Heaven belongs

to them.” This tells me that little children are always welcome in

heaven, too. Those young ones who leave the earth before they are old enough to have an understanding of

what it means to be saved are re-ceived with open arms.

He Restores Your Soul

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

“The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me

beside quiet waters, he restores my soul...” (Psalm 23:1–3, ESV)

TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria

God wants to restore your soul today. Your soul is your mind, your will and your emotions. You are a

three-part being: you are a spirit — that’s the part of you that lives for eternity, you have a soul, and

you live in a body while you’re here on earth.

Your soul is where you may store hurt, disappoint-ments or brokenness from the past. When God

restores your soul, He brings His healing power to those broken places and makes you whole again.

And when God restores you, He makes you better off than you were before. He makes you stronger, more

alive, and more loving.

I love the picture painted in this verse. Notice that He leads us beside quiet waters. He makes us

lie down in green pastures. This is a picture of rest. When we are resting in Him, He is able to do a work in our lives. He is able to bring that restoration.

Don’t let the busyness of life keep you going so fast that you don’t stop and rest. Take time to be still

before the Lord and let Him restore your soul.
