Get Well Wishes:

Catching Up: Ginny Green appreciated the car-ing so much after her surgery, and asked that her letter be published in the Newsletter. “Many thanks to all of you wonderful ladies who sent me cards, flowers, and the phone calls after my surgery. I’m on the road to recovery and hope to be back to my old self in another month or two. PNC, you are the best. With love, Ginny Green”. This was sent the end of September, and Ginny is now doing great. Pat Kramer also sent an e-mail of appreciation for thoughts while she was “out of commission for awhile”. Sometimes what we consider little things can mean quite a lot....

On our special thoughts list, Marya Snearline is being transferred to the Life Care Center at 14101 East Evans Ave., Aurora CO 80014, so cards could be sent there.

Our thoughts and prayers to Cathy Groves and her family, her son Kevin was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident. We received the following:

Cathy Groves message:I would like to thank all the PNC members for the thoughts and prayers that were sent my way dur-ing the past couple of weeks following my son’s motorcycle accident. I received a bundle of cards and e-mails and it warms my heart to know that our members are so caring. The main thing is that Kevin had angels with him and survived the horrendous ac-cident. He has a long recovery period ahead of him, but he is expected to fully recover.

What a great way to start the New Year....Happy Birthday to our January PNC members:

January BiographyCarolyn Hedeen

I was born the oldest of six siblings and raised in the boot heel of southeast Missouri. My Mom and Dad owned both a grocery store and an insurance agency. Mom ran the store and Dad the insurance agency. Needless to say, we had jobs before we thought we needed one.

I left the banks of the Mississippi River after high school, to spend two years modeling in the St. Louis garment district. Later at Michigan State University in East Lansing Michigan I pursued a degree in Food Science (some people still called it Home Economics, remember that). All was going well until I got bored and switched majors to law enforcement. I was never again bored in college. Interning as a Narc in the 60’s, was where it was at for me and I thoroughly enjoyed those years.

I met Bill, the nicest person I’ve ever known. We mar-ried and moved to Macomb Illinois after graduation so that he could pursue a Masters in Law Enforcement. We raised our 4 kids in the wonderful midwestern town of Macomb while living in a 100 year old Victorian House. Bill and I spent 30 years there with Bill moving up the ranks to Police Chief and me staying at home while the kids were growing up. Bill and I were heavily involved in our town activities

I managed a kitchen boutique for a professor friend who wanted to use the store as a teaching laboratory. I realized my old love, the theory and practice of good cooking. Eventually I became the General Manager of the Country Club which kept me very busy. While busy at the club I continued taking classes at Western Illinois University. Later I managed a very large restaurant in town and became an Event Planner for all things local and afar.

I kept very busy showing my work at art shows around the state, taking flying lessons to get my pilot’s license and I did some interior decorating. While I sat on the Board of Cultural Affairs at WIU I ran the towns celebra-tions and was an advisor to the Macomb Cotillion.

Bill retired and we came to Colorado. We lived with our son Peter in Denver while we looked around for some-where to settle and decided on the Pinery in Parker. Bill took a job as an Investigator with Arapahoe County and we all know what I’m doing.

We have 4 wonderful kids : Kim living in Las Vegas is in home building, Allison a CPA in Illinois , Peter’s a lawyer in Denver, and Kris teaches Mandarin Chinese in Texas. The greatest reward of all is our sixgrandchildren that I devote all my extra time visiting.

We love living here and I enjoy the fellowship of the Newcomers Club. Stay tuned, the best is yet to come!
