An introduction to Melaka

Melaka has been a highly contested spot since the 15th century A.D. Its

strategic maritime location would provide huge advantages to the one who

controls Melaka and consequently the straits of Melaka both for trade as well

as war.

Due to this, the state has faced many wars and conquered many times. The

ones who managed to control Melaka were the Portuguese, the Dutch, the

Brits, the Japanese and finally back to the British before Malaysia gained

independence in 1957.

Today Melaka is a bustling hub of tourism, hospitality, development and

growth with over 15.7 million tourists in the year 2015 with the number rising

consistently since 2008 when Melaka gained the title of a UNESCO world

heritage site.

Below are some tourist attractions in Melaka.

In 2010, Melaka received the status of an independent state. This made the

government more free and empowered to develop Melaka on its own accord

with less restriction from the Federal Government. Since then, efforts towards

the development of Melaka picked up and the changes that you see today are

as a result of that.

The amazement and innovation does not stop there, with LED panels on the

ceilings throughout the mall and especially at the ground floor where the

entire ceiling is made up of these panels, a grand sense of the ocean is

projected onto the visitors and shoppers that will surely leave a lasting

impression.

The Harbour City Resorts offer breath-taking views from each of its gorgeously
