On 17th July 2014 we held an all agency #HackDay.

The brief was simple - create and build an app that would make life easier.
A week before, every member of the agency pitched a handful of ideas and a vote was taken.
What happens when you can’t choose between two ideas? You make them both!
The #Hashtag generator for those tricky moments when you can’t think of a #hashtag for your new social media campaign !
Hube – a cube which will flash different colours every time there is an interaction on our social media channels.
Splitting into two teams we decided to tackle an idea each - here’s our hack day.
The agenda for the day was simple.
But first, breakfast.
First job of the day for team Hube was to make sense of the circuit board
Alerts were set up for Facebook likes and Twitter mentions on the server.
Meanwhile wireframes and a logo were being developed for the hashtag generator
Nearly 500 words were added to the hashtag database - Freud would have had a field day.
The front end of the Hashtag Generator was being tested in no time at all.
Two bottles of super glue later and the Hube had taken shape too.
The bread board was wired up to the LEDs and connected the Raspberry Pi.
Creative took several rounds before the logo felt right.

It was time to present the finished pieces to the rest of the agency.
A real time visualisation of social activity and site status - the box glows each time Harkable receives a mention on
Twitter, a like on Facebook or a like on Dribbble
Enter key terms for a campaign and #generate a hashtag or if you’re #feelinglucky leave the space empty to create
a random hashtag.
✓ It allows you to experiment with innovation outside of the usual client realms.
!✓ It’s a great team building exercise - especially between teams
that wouldn’t normally work on the same projects. !✓ Products can be developed that can add real value to clients. !✓ It’s a great way for every member of the agency to put their hand
to something new - everyone in the team gets a chance to see how the other half work.
