THE QU AR TE RS POST 2017/18 SEASON NOVEMBER ISSUE 2 Big Game 10 is a rematch of Big Game 7 which saw - then defending Premiership champions - Northampton Saints edge past Harlequins 25-30 in front of 82,000 supporters at Twickenham Stadium. Since its beginnings in 2008, the Big Game series at Twickenham Stadium has rapidly risen in popularity and is now a firm fixture in the festive sporting calendar. The Twickenham Stoop has had a weekend off every December as Harlequins travel across the A316 to swap their famous home for the headquarters of English rugby. Celebrating a decade of Big Games, this season’s is set to be the best one yet on a day which provides so much more than just a rugby match. Come and say hello… PREMIERSHIP RUGBY LAND ROVER CUP On 28th October, the Harlequins Community Department ran the Premiership Rugby Land Rover Cup Festival at Kneller Hall. We had over 30 under 11 and under 12 teams take part, coming from all over the South East of England, from Gravesend all the way down to Winchester. An excellent day was had by all with some fantastic rugby on display at a brilliant location, looked over by the Home of England Rugby, Twickenham Stadium. In the under 12 tournament, Rosslyn Park FC overcame local team Teddington RFC in a closely fought final. Winchester RFC were drawn as the winners in the U11 tournament. Both Rosslyn Park FC under 12s and Winchester under 11s won a trip to Twickenham for the Aviva Premiership Rugby Final on May 26, 2018. The lucky teams will get to meet a host of Land Rover rugby ambassadors and take part in a Land Rover Premiership Rugby Cup Testimonial Parade, at half time in front of a sell-out crowd at Twickenham. Harlequins players Kyle Sinckler and Dave Ward also came down to the festival to cheer on the teams and hand out the trophies. Kyle’s former childhood team, Battersea Ironsides RFC, were unlucky not to make it through to the knockout stages but were given some advice and coaching tips from the Lions tourist, to help them with the rest of their season. We would like to express out thanks to Kneller Hall for providing an excellent venue and to all participants who travelled from near and far to take part in a wonderful event. On 28th October, the Harlequins Community Department ran the Premiership Rugby Land Rover Cup Festival at Kneller Hall. We had over 30 under 11 and under 12 teams take part, coming from all over the South East of England, from Gravesend all the way down to Winchester.

An excellent day was had by all with some fantastic rugby on display at a brilliant location, looked over by the Home of England Rugby, Twickenham Stadium. HARLEQUINS FOUNDATION

The first round of the Brighter Futures Grant Programme application has now passed, and we are delighted to have received 45 applications.

The eight successful applicants, Off the Record, Emerge Advocacy, Crossways Centre – Me too and co, Feltham Girls Group, Action Attainment Ltd, Home Start Richmond, Kingston and Hounslow, True Access and Knights Basketball Academy Bursary have come from local community organisations located within a five-mile radius of the Twickenham Stoop and Harlequins training ground at Surrey Sports Park.
