    Plan your schedule carefully. If the City cancels a class, you will receive a full refund.

    No refunds will be given if you cancel after the first class session in which you are registered.

    Looking for Class Ideas & Instructors

    If you possess the skills and abilities to teach a program, which would be a GREAT addition to our Parks and Recreation curriculum, wed like to meet you. All you have to do is submit a class proposal telling us about your class. Classes are a great way to bring in extra revenue doing something you love to do. If you are interested in submitting a class proposal, contact the Recreation Program Coordinator: Esmeralda Martinez at (956) 873-0391.

    No registrations are taken over the phone or without full payment.

    We only accept cash or checks. Please make check payable to the City of Harlingen.

    DANCELearn to Dance Cumbia Lessons

    You can register at the Harlingen Parks and Recreation Office, 502 E. Tyler

    Feel the music, learn basic steps and Wepa! Cumbia has a characteristic heartbeat rhythm that youll know if youve ever heard it. Come and learn how to do basic to medium advanced dance steps in CUMBIA. No partner required but highly recommended.

    Tejano Dance LessonsVAMOS AL BAILE. If you feel dancing is just TOO hard, then this class is just for you. This fun class includes learning very basic footwork to medium advanced dance steps. If you can walk then youre halfway there. No partner required but highly recommended.

    Texas Two-Step CountryWestern Dance Lessons

    Do you think youre too old to learn to dance, or does it feel like you have two left feet? Let us show you how easy it is to learn how to dance the Texas Two-Step. Instruction is well paced and includes the learning of proper dance etiquette, correct footwork, turning as couples, plus the very popular WHIP turn. No partner required but highly recommended.

    Sponsored by Harlingen Table Tennis Club in association with the Harlingen Parks and Recreation Dept. Open for ages 8 to 80+. For Fees, Contact Bob Salmeron, USATT Certified National Coach at (956) 428-2002 or view their website, www.hgnttc.org. Paddles available, comfortable clothing T-shirt, shorts & gym shoes.

    Ninjutsu (Martial Arts) Learn to protect yourself and others. Learning about leadership, responsibilities and self-confidence. Experience a new way of exercises and self defense at the same time. Students can wear jogging pants and/or shorts with a t-shirt.

    City of Harlingen Harlingen Parks and Recreation Department presents to YOU a great evening of entertainment and fun. Bring your own lawn chairs or beach towels. Food and beverages will be sold (No outside food or beverages, please). FREE ADMISSION. For information, call the Harlingen Parks and Recreation Department at (956) 216-5950.

    The Harlingen Parks and Recreation Department along with Footworks invites you to join us at the Footworks Store for a Run Happy, Run Free Event. Every Tuesday / Thursday at 5am and out running at 5:10am. Choose your happy distance 5k, 10k , 2 miler, or 4 miler and choose your Happy pace from a 15min /mile to a sub 6 min/mile pace. Run safe in a group and meet new friends. Running and Injury prevention screens / consultations also available after the run with a Physical Therapist.     All classes will meet August 6, 13, 20, & 27 at Hugh Ramsey Nature Park the Harlingen World Birding Center from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. Come bird with experienced birders who can help you learn the birds in your backyard and beyond. Early Fall migrants are possible and Summer birds can still be seen. Special trips may be made to other birding sites.
