At the moment a massive share of the rent paid byHarlow householders is taken away by Gordon Brown, tospend in other parts of the country. Harlow tenants payover 13.5million in a secret tenants tax to theGovernment, with no benefit in return. 13.5million isover a third of our rent bill.
The real injustice is that Labours stealth tax is hidden, and swept under the carpet, because it only hits afterour rent is collected.
Harlows housingmoney should be forHarlow people. Localpeople should decidehow Harlows moneyis spent: not theGovernment.
Wouldnt it be better if this money was spent onimproving Harlows homes?
LOWER UTILITY BILLS FOR OUR HOMES
Robert has secured a pledge fromGrant Shapps MP, ConservativeHousing Spokesman, that everyhome in Harlow will receive 6500
under a Conservative Government.
This cash will pay for energy-efficient lighting, modern boilers, and cavity and loft insulation. Families will seepermanently lower energy bills, with zero upfrontcost. And will never have to pay the money back.
Robert said: This initiative will create 70,000 newjobs nationally, and save a typical home 30 a month. It will help Harlow families and pensioners strugglingto make ends meet. Im striving to end fuel poverty inHarlow once and for all.
LABOUR SAYREPOSSESSIONS ARE AGOOD THING
Mr John Healey, Labour HousingMinister, has told thousands ofpeople who face losing theirhomes that it might be the best thing for them. At thesame, Mr Healey has made an 88,000 profit on ataxpayer-funded second home. Rob says: Theseremarks are insensitive. Home repossessions are at theirhighest for 14 years, but government-owned homes are
lying vacant. Labour is not solving Harlows housingproblems.

A HOUSING REVOLUTION FOR HARLOWHARLOW HOUSING MONEY FOR HARLOW PEOPLE
LABOUR CAUSEHARDSHIP FORVULNERABLE TENANTS
Last year, Labour Ministersintroduced a new Local Housing
Allowance, with housing benefitbeing direct to the tenant ratherthan to the landlord. Butvulnerable tenants oftenstruggle to manage their finances and spend their rentmoney on other things. Homeless charity, Crisis, has warnedthat this can result in rent arrears and eventuallyhomelessness. Landlords who were previously happy totake on tenants on housing benefit have suffered from non-payment of rent. Many landlords now routinely refuse to letto Local Housing Allowance claimants. According to theNational Landlords Assocation, half of all landlords arereluctant to lend to tenants on Local Housing Allowance.
7005 people in Harlow are on local housing waiting lists, and a sizeable proportion of them are on housing benefit.Housing waiting lists have risen by 294% per cent underthis Labour Government reflecting the shortage ofaffordable accommodation. I am pleasedthat Conservatives havepledged to changeLabours failed policy.Tenants will be able tochoose whether to havetheir housing allowancepaid direct to their landlord. This will increase the
availability of qualitylow-cost housing.

Gordon Brown wants to concrete over
our green belt.His plans for
thousands of new houses in Harlow
