Please provide relevant examples of how the standing team had helped (or not helped) you to....

Gain knowledge/understanding of Accountability It helped me know what accountability is, to know about best practices of accountability. Learn more about feedback mechanisms and tools of

implementing accountability . Three key deployment took place in Bolivia that showed me a easy way to be more accountability with communities N/A through the AIM workshop, I gained deeper knowledge on understanding the accountability Been able to look at other agencies materials on accountability and also share ideas in different fora. I have gained some understanding on accountability through publications, tools and deployment reports - through ECB/Standing team website. Being part of AIM standing team helped to gain knowledge and learn from different experiences specifically about accountability and its impact on project

performance. Due to limited focus on accountability and its impact on project performance would have not been understood and learned without being part of the AIM team. The team member who have implemented the different accountability mechanisms during their deployments is worth learning and tempting to be followed in the deployments and individual agency work with some modifications if required to fit to the given context.

Page 3: Has the Standing Team and its work helped you to... Web viewWe are requested to facilitate sessions about accountabilities, tools and experiences by OCHA agencies and other colleagues

The concept of Accountability is totally new to me through AIM standing team workshop, followed by a specific training on Accountability through my organization

I had great opportunity to be deployed to Nepal which helped me to understanding different accountability approaches adopted by different humanitarian agencies. At the same time I interviewed senior people from these agencies to undertake strengths and gaps analysis. Further It really helped me to harness my facilitation skills.

Now I have clear understanding of what accountability is and how I can be able to promote beneficiary accountability and even to implement improved accountability systems. In my work I now involve and engage the people I work with and give them a chance to give feedback and concerns while I ensure I respond to them.

It helped me to refresh my knowledge on accountability. I attended the workshop in Jakarta last year and got to learn again about key elements of accountability. The experince sharing was also very useful. The AIM blog is also very resourceful and I can always access the blog when I need to look into any particular issue regarding accountability.

"- There are many resources avilable in the standing team blog There may support given by respective agency AIM advisor Incorporate AIM elements in ongoing project" Interaction with colleagues from other agencies and learning about the work they do; successes and challenges across participating agencies. Deployment experiences of my ST members have provided an opportunity to gain an overview of accountability field practices in other agencies/various

consortia - Bolivia, Bangladesh, Kenya, etc. Sharing and learning experiences from other standing team on the accountability practices during the ToT training and workshop of the standing team in

Jakarta and Casablanca. Individual contact through email and the aim standing team blogs

Gain knowledge/understanding of Impact Measurement n/a Actually, the link between accountability and impact measurement is even a weak resource for me, because I did not see an strong experience or tools

about this. N/A by having more discussion and sharing experiences from other members has give me more understanding on the impact measurement in real world This is an area I feel was not adequately covered in AIM Not much from AIM ST initiative. I have joined the ST recently so looking forward to this in future. Working with AIM standing team helped to learn and gain knowledge about different accountability practices/mechanism and their implementation in

various programs. Usually at the agency level, this used to be given relatively less attention than about overall monitoring and evaluation of projects and to at least adopt few key and mainly used practices for improved program impact and also to make the processes. The use of little key accountability helped to increase the general people’s perception regarding accountability and transparency in humanitarian work done by INGO’s/NGO’s.

I have been using sets of tools such as good enough guide to make key accountability elements well incorporated in our organizational ways of working. I was able to gain some more knowledge about impact measurement during the Jakarta workshop, from the blog and by hosting some of the AIM

standing team members in Bangladesh. "- Incorporate AIM elements in M&E framework, evaluation process in ongoing project Participate in-country impact measurement work"

Page 4: Has the Standing Team and its work helped you to... Web viewWe are requested to facilitate sessions about accountabilities, tools and experiences by OCHA agencies and other colleagues

I don't think we have done enough work on impact measurement. Practiced tools during Casablanca workshop, deployment report and story in the blogs

Keep up to date with new tools, approaches and practices in AIM The blog enabled me to access tools and approaches and best practices. Such as the reports establised by other ECB members/ Or other blog posts

showing ECB members experience. Research into the blog and promote for applying 3 pilot with our partners have been a success N/A Through the blog, I get update on new tools, approaches & practices in AIM. And I am involved in workshop/training to share it with others from different

agencies Yes, this has been one of the big value adds for AIM I hope to learn some in future. The tools like Good Enough Guide and AIM standing toolkit are very useful and readily applicable for the work done by development

organizations/INGO’s. These tools address well the concerns related to effectiveness in program implementation and their high impact especially related to accountability practices and mechanism.

yes, the resources available at the ECB website is useful, and I was using that very often Although I am a new joinee to Standing Team but I still recently had opportunity to work closely with some of standing team members. They really helped

me out to draft questionnaire for strengths and gaps analysis and to facilitate sessions on accountability and CRM. Have been able to utilize the tools in implementing improved AIM tools and also adopted them in facilitating all my accountability trainings. Yes, it hepled me a lot. The AIM toolkit is one stop repository, this is very enrcihed. I got familiar with new TOT module on GEG. I got to know about

IASC accountability framework. "-Report and other materials avialble in standing team website This workshop is a good example. Monthly calls have also been very helpful. I have the update from the ECB newsletter, website and email and AIM standing team blogs

Create relationships with AIM colleagues from other agencies "Yes indeed through the ECB I referred to members such as Adong for the material he prepared on the goodEnough guide. I could reach to others to check about tools used for the feedback mechanism" In the country we have several activities to link at the agencies but outside is more difficult by language, schedule and differing agendas The Nepal workshop is a great opportunity to meet colleagues from different agencies and to learn about their approaches, successes and challenges

related to AIM. Now I have my network of friends within the ECB Standing Team and have a chance to discuss & share experience. Before I don't know them. I even

able to connect and discuss with M&E person in my agencies from different country On medium scale, there is an issue of time. Has been helpful. For e.g. this learning workshop.

Page 5: Has the Standing Team and its work helped you to... Web viewWe are requested to facilitate sessions about accountabilities, tools and experiences by OCHA agencies and other colleagues

The AIM standing members learn and interact with each other, share their experiences and learning’s from deployment and the usefulness and impact of the sue of various accountability. This really helps to improve the knowledge and learning’s which is and could be implemented in their individual roles and organizations they work with. The AIM standing team members have diverse back grounds and experiences which makes it rich knowledge resource base for the members with an easy access. Well, interacting with AIM team members had never been a difficult for me, this group had been a real asset for ECB project.

"yes, definitely, strong relationship has been created with other standing team members from other organizations. Deployment also creates better chance for interaction" Yes it is useful, I am well connected with many of them to exchange knowledge and share my learning so far. Of course, I was able to meet and build relationships with AIM collagues from other agencies and countries. It helped for cross cultural learning. "- Yes through informal relationship - inter-action during deployment time -Good relationship established with AIM advisors " Coming together around ST has strengthened relationships with other AIM advisors/colleagues. through individual email and blogs

Obtain practical support and guidance on AIM I received a lot of support from the AIM when preparing for the Accountability strategy I received innovative tools, resources and stories through blog. I am happy have it in my "knowledge suitcase" A ECB ST member (CRS) shared her experience in training 900 staff on Preventing Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) in Haiti. She has designed a

training package and is willing to share it. This will be extremely useful as my colleagues and I are very likely to use this training guide to train staff in my organization.

I am able to access tools I need on AIM blog Support has been great particularly during the deployment process. Recently we have got support on AIM through ST deployment. Th outcome of this support is yet to be seen. Whether it is related to ECB project or in individual role, I have been supported by the AIM and ECB project team always when it comes to guidance on

use of AIM elements. The learning’s from deployment is highly required to know about the challenges/difficulties of implementing the AIM tools and how it has benefited to communities involved. The other supported obtained regarding the use of all AIM tools from the blog, the instructions/guiding points and examples really helps to clear the doubts and if in case something is not clear, the AIM team could be consulted. All this really make it different than other learning groups.

Yes, I particularly sought help from my AIM adviser Hana Crowe. While planning for my trainings on Accountability in my agency and other partners, I have been in constant communication with the AIM advisors and

ECB ST coordinator. The support from this team made me achieve and meet expectations of the training In terms of practical support and guidance, I can more specifically talk about the two deplymonts we hosted in Bangladesh. We found these very helpful

for imrpoving the work of the agencies. - No directly from standing team members but from AIM advisors i can easily contact to the AIM standing team advisor and other standing team who has experienced to deployed and availability of the tools online

Page 6: Has the Standing Team and its work helped you to... Web viewWe are requested to facilitate sessions about accountabilities, tools and experiences by OCHA agencies and other colleagues

Obtain practical support and guidance on AIM I shared the AIM knowledge with my M&E team back in Palestine through an Accountability workshop. In addition to sharing some of the posts of the

blog We are requested to facilitate sessions about accountabilities, tools and experiences by OCHA agencies and other colleagues. We are creating a point

of reference in the country The Nepal workshop was a good opportunity to share the learning from my experience as a CARE standing team member who deployed three times

over the last 15 months. I shared the AIM knowledge & skills through workshop & training within my agency and with other agencies in ECB and on ECB In the limited time, I feel I have shared my knowledge skills. Not much until now. However, there are very successful accountability approaches/tools/practices in Nepal which can be shared for mutual learning in

future. I think given my role in the organization I belong and the work we do, there is a huge role and scope to implement all AIM tools in our project

implementation. This will enhance the project implementation to make it highly accountable and transparent. I had learned much about AIM standing tool kit, GEG and other AIM mechanisms and practices. Being with AIM, I learned in depth about the cases and different scenarios involved in emergencies and or crises response. The has improved my capacity to work very effectively in these scenarios as and when required.

"DM&E Assessments and Evaluations Analysis CRM Minimum Standards for Program Interventions " Have been able to share my experience within my agency staff and management. I shared my experience on the blog and during my deployment. I was able to share my knowldege, skils and experince in wokrhops, blogs and with the deployed team members. For example- I shared the GEG TOT

module which we have developed; I shared the experionce of how we can devleop communication matearils in Bangla for awareness raising of beneficiaries on accountability.

"- Yes through standing team blog - Share knowledge at country level by peer members " training, workshop and seminars presentationChange/innovate the way you work I love working in a creative ways and the video was the best example enhanced with the ECB Now, we think in rights of the communities to receive information, answers to their concerns and delivering quality projects. N/A It gave more understanding on how to implement the accountability within the program that I work with / contextualized it Limited space for this because I do not work in a context of emergency. We are hoping to strengthen our accountability systems and practices through these learning.

Page 7: Has the Standing Team and its work helped you to... Web viewWe are requested to facilitate sessions about accountabilities, tools and experiences by OCHA agencies and other colleagues

All the knowledge and experiences I have learned and have been exposed to, has definitely my way of working or dealing with given situations. Generally it has improved my involvement in implementing the AIM practices and mechanisms and making the effective use of these tools in the work we do.

the training courses I had were quite useful in a way that I could share some of my learnings, It really helped us to develop Monitoring Evaluation Accountability and Learning System at Save the Children I have been able to generate global interest through the adoption of innovative systems in implementing improved AIM tools. Through my exposure in

AIM ST have gained confidence in the implementation of this tools in the field It helped in cahnging the way we worked. For example- I learned how to advocate better within the agencies for promoting accountability. "- Learn good example from other experience through standing team blog and resources - Apply AIM elements in ongoing project" While not fully tested yet..ST can potentially partner with various other actors in innovative projects. I have learned many creatives ways of feedback mechanism practices from the other standing team colleagues

Get buy-in from colleagues on accountability I reached to the ECB members through their emails and got the feedback I need Each workshop is an opportunity to share knowledge and give information about new ways to do accountability and Standing Team resources. N/A My colleagues using the RACI tools to improve accountability within the program and always remember to include the accountability aspect within the

new project planning (concept note and then the proposal) NA We are looking forward to that. The use of accountability practices and mechanism is highly appreciated in my organization and encouraged to be used in the work we do. Currently my

organization has started highlighting the role of accountability in humanitarian work has increased and donors has started emphasizing on it, it gives a real opportunity for all of us to implement the practices and tools e have used to maximize program quality and impact.

I am quite new to Standing Team so haven't worked much on this aspect Have been able to become a point person to influence the adoption of improved AIM tools and have been called to facilitate AIM trainings and even

support in the establishment of AIM systems. One of the ECB agency collague from Bangladesh is also part of the standing team.We are helping each other and the agencies in promoting

accountability. It hepls to get buy-in of the collagues in diiffernt ways. For exmaple- sharing of the good practices from other coutires really inspire them. - Yes by deploying shelter accountibility advisor ECB is well respected within the humanitarian industry - therefore, the ST has received some recognition. Though we need to demonstrate impact and

have a broader comms strategy to disseminate case studies, etc to get further buy-in/support. component of accountability framework

Improve your facilitation skills Learning a lot of energizers, facilitation skills was very helpful following the Jakarta workshop Materials as powerpoint, videos and graphics from blog have been a useful elements to increase my facilitation skills As a facilitator myself, I am always keen to learn from other facilitators. The Nepal workshop used interesting facilitation methodologies that I plan to use

in the future. I am now have more skills on facilitation. In each event I facilitate, I always using different / combine facilitation approach I learnt from ECB Yes, I have been able to learn and develop my facilitation skills in my time with AIM. Meeting people from different organizations has been a good

opportunity. Not much until now. However, looking forward to opportunities in future. As I am closely involved in facilitating trainings in my organization, working with AIM team has improved my facilitation skills and I have better learned to

facilitate the groups with diverse participants. Definitely the use of energizers and ice breakers I have learned through participation in ECB’ AIM learning workshops.

the set of skills I gained through the ECB training had contributed to my professional experience, through which I could facilitate the deployment training Yes the recent experience to Nepal was really exciting and helped me to improve facilitation skills I have been able to adopt best facilitation skills through the exposure and using the facilitation tools developed by ECB. My facilitation skills have

drastically improved and this is through the feedback I get from the participants. Evaluations after the trainings have been improving from time to time. yes, it helped me improved my facilitiation skills. I get to know differnet facilitaion skills which the facilitators have been using in the wrokshops. I tried

some of these techniques during accoutability workshops with the agencies and partners. - Participate in country accountibility event more practices and learned of facilitation skills from facilitator, tools kit

Because the tools you use and learn about in addition to knowing the best practices is better than the books/

Change/innovate the way you work These elements are improving my effective response to goal communities Obtain practical support and guidance on AIM Obtain practical support and guidance on AIM: to me, this is the most important. A

lot of people have good knowledge on accountability, but translating theory into practice is the main challenge. In my experience, people are extremely interested in very concrete, "how-to" guides or experience sharing. For example, several agencies are implementing complaint response mechanisms (CRM) these days. Everyone agrees with the principle. What people want to know is: what are the steps to implement a CRM? What does each step entails? How much time for each step? How much time in total? How many trainings? How many days? Who should be involved? Which step is the most challenging? What should we pay specific attention to? Which lessons did you learn? If you had to re-do it, what would you do differently? An so

on... This very concrete information is also what speaks most to field staff, which are the most important staff since they work directly with communities every day.

Keep up to date with new tools, approaches and practices in AIM

1. Gain knowledge & understanding of accountability2. Create relationship with AIM colleagues from other agenciesPreviously my knowledge & understanding is limited to GEG & Sphere only, but now I am having more and get more realistic implementation experience. And by sharing experiences, I know where I am now and what should I improve3. Change/innovative the way you workBy having more knowledge, understanding, sharing experience & guidance, I am able to contextualize it within my program I am working with as well as within the agencies and consortia in my country

Gain knowledge/understanding of Impact Measurement,

Create relationships with AIM colleagues from other agencies

Share your AIM knowledge and skills

Interacting and learning from other agencies has been a great opportunity to learn and develop my skills and knowledge in Accountability and also improve facilitation methods.

Gain knowledge/understanding of Accountability, Gain knowledge/understanding of Impact

Measurement, Create relationships with AIM colleagues from other

agencies

When anyone getting knowledge about accountabitity , that time they Implement there knowledge in the filed, AIM team create relationship other agency for theire work purpose , that why its really important for us .

Gain knowledge/understanding of Accountability Gain knowledge/understanding of Impact

Measurement Obtain practical support and guidance on AIM

Improving understanding on accountability among the team members is the foundation. What are key principles of accountability, what tools will work, and why it is important are the basic concepts of this understanding.

Delivering the expected benefits/results to the program beneficiries is the important part of the broader program accountability. If we have not been able to deliver what is expected to be delivered should be considered as failure to accountability. Measuring impacts (results) will turn promises into evidences and should be the very key components of accountability.

Gain knowledge/understanding of Accountability, Keep up to date with new tools, approaches and

practices in AIM, Obtain practical support and guidance on AIM

Gaining knowledge about the accountability and its role in implementation of the projects we do, has significantly improved the project implementation processes. Earlier it used to be less focused or presumed to be covered directly or indirectly lacked the clarity both among the communities and donors. Giving specific attention to accountability and emphasizing on its role was only possible when I had understood it well through learning’s shared by other standing team members. The current AIM tools and practices would have not been well explored or understood had these tools not been shared with the team. More importantly emphasizing on their use more often has highly cleared its value proposition and scope in humanitarian work. Lastly, sharing the knowledge and on ground experience about the use of tools and their role has helped very well to make their optimum use.

Page 11: Has the Standing Team and its work helped you to... Web viewWe are requested to facilitate sessions about accountabilities, tools and experiences by OCHA agencies and other colleagues

Gain knowledge/understanding of Accountability, Keep up to date with new tools, approaches and

practices in AIM, Get buy-in from colleagues on accountability

Because the updated knowledge helps me act better in my role and lobby my management to buy in Accountability practices.

Gain knowledge/understanding of Accountability, Keep up to date with new tools, approaches and

practices in AIM, Share your AIM knowledge and skills

I believe understanding of accountability and its dynamics really helps to improve our relation with communities and eventually quality of our programs. Tools, approaches and practices are important to systematic institutionalization of accountability in our organizational ways of working. Sharing of knowledge encourages us to learn from each other.

Gain knowledge/understanding of Accountability, Gain knowledge/understanding of Impact

Measurement, Share your AIM knowledge and skills

Building up knowledge on accountability and Impact Measurement will enhance my capacity to improve accountability systems and well able share this experience and skills with others. All other mentioned are built in on these three.

Gain knowledge/understanding of Accountability, Keep up to date with new tools, approaches and

practices in AIM, Get buy-in from colleagues on accountability

First I think all of these are very important. We can't ignore the others. However, I think it is not possible to enhance accoutability without having proper knowledge and tools. Buy-in is the most important because when people will own something they will do it. Without ownership there will ne no real change and sustainability.

Keep up to date with new tools, approaches and practices in AIM,

Obtain practical support and guidance on AIM, Change/innovate the way you work

Resources and new experience is very important and more important apply that knowledge into respective org project

Create relationships with AIM colleagues from other agencies

The sense of a community of practice to learn from one another and to problem solve together.

Keep up to date with new tools, approaches and practices in AIM,

Create relationships with AIM colleagues from other agencies

Change/innovate the way you work

ECB provides a strong platform for cross-learning and joint activities which will enhance the way we integrate accountability into our programmes.

Keep up to date with new tools, approaches and practices in AIM

Create relationships with AIM colleagues from other agencies Share your AIM knowledge and skills

Keep up to date that has been tested in the field and practiced by agencies, and share the practices among the agencies and AIM colleagues through sharing and create relationship among AIM colleagues

How effective have the following been in improving your accountability skills:

Please provide examples on the question above Accountability is mandatory in all projects ECB is putting efforts in documenting good practices and this is extremely important, as information management among humanitarian actors needs to

improve drastically in my opinion. example: My agencies have a high awareness on the importance of JNA and actively involve in its implementation "Undertook number of assessments Provide training to number of staff members Best practices documented Have improved our CRM" The AIM deployments hepled the ECB agencies in Bangladesh and Shelter Cluster to identify the strengths and gaps in accountability. Based on the

recommendations, some agencies (for example Oxfam and OXfam led reponse project FRESH) have improved their Complaint and Feedback Mechanisms. Most of the agencies are now incorporating accoutability issues into their training programme. For example, I have supported Save the Children, Care in facilitating accountability sessions.

Increasingly JNA is conducted with the support from ECB , agency level awareness increased on establishing feedback machanism

I am new in the team, looking forward to participate, contribute and learn more from this initiative. It was wonderful experince being part of the AIM team and hosting two deployments in Bangladesh. Unfortunately I couldn't be deployed due to family

priority. I hope the AIM ST willl continue and we will improve more.
