The newly opened fields, which geologists feel may be the largest oil field in the United States, has 25 producing wells at the present time. Sinclair is rumored to have the backing of influential government employees. Mammoth has borrowed large sums of money to explore for oil in California & Wyoming & to develop Elk Hills. Secretary of the Interior Fall is reported to be a large stockholder. Sinclair’s company has not paid dividends in the past 5 years of operation. The value of Mammoth Oil stock has fluctuated between 20 cents & 5 dollars a share for the past two years.
This bank is one of the oldest, wealthiest, & most conservative financial houses in the country. The owner is proud of saying that his bank still operates on the same principles first established by Alexander Hamilton in 1790. This stock is so stable that when it once dropped two points in a week, back in 1893, it set off a small-scale recession. This bank has paid an annual dividend for 130 years.

Several of the most powerful banks & brokerage houses of the Midwest are regarded as his puppets. Midland produces electricity for central Chicago & is expanding into the suburbs. Midland has developed & is using giant steam turbines to generate power. • The collapse of the New York Stock Market triggered the Great Depression.
• On October 24, 1929 millions of shares of stock were dumped on the market.
• Within a week American investors lost over $40 billion.
• As people rushed to cash in all their savings over 9,000 banks closed & many people lost their entire savings.
• The Depression was not limited to the USA.
• It affected almost every economy in the world.
• The country with the biggest debt, Germany, was plunged into a deep financial crisis. One in three Germans workers were unemployed.
• In this atmosphere of economic uncertainty, many people were attracted to extremist political groups.
• These groups included Fascists, Nazis, & Communists which offered radical solutions.
