One of the things Hawaii is famous for is its sweet, juicy, delicious, golden yellow pineapples. Even though very few pineapples from Hawaii make it out-side the islands people can enjoy some anytime. Almost all the pineapples grown in Hawaii are for local consumption. Because the price of land is so high in the Hawaiian Islands it is no longer cost effective to continue to grow the Worlds pineapples in Hawaii.

The 19th annual Pineapple festival sponsor by Dole Plantation will take place from August 4th to August 5th, 2007, it is a family-oriented community event featuring plenty of activities adults and children alike. Activities include demon-stration of pineapple planting, pineapple drinks and foods, and street entertain-ment. There will also be the Miss Pineapple 2006 pageant for single young ladies ages 16-21 and Little Miss Pineapple 2006 pageants for girls ages 4-8.
