WRITING WORKSHOPS

2pm Mindful Writing with writing coach Joy Kenward, author of Mindful Writing (open to adults and teens) 3pm Writing Poetry with award-winning poet Shirley Wright (open to adults and teens)

BOOKSHOP & REFRESHMENTS

in the School Hall The Wonderland Bookshop Café will be selling delicious home-made soups, cakes and drinks with a literary twist and books by festival authors in the School Hall.

EVENTS FOR CHILDREN & YOUNG PEOPLE

Meet authors who write for children and young adults throughout the day – with Bobbie Coehlo, Kate Frost, James Minter, Betty Salthouse, Trevor Stubbs & Miranda Walker

OUTREACH TO BEAUFORT HOUSE

We’ll be taking poetry readings into the residents of Beaufort House at 10.30am and 2.pm – with Michael MacMahon, David Williams and Shirley Wright

TALKS 10am Launch Event Special guest Caroline Sanderson, Associate Editor of The Bookseller, will officially open the Festival, followed by the launch of several new books

11am Crime Writing: From Cosy to Chilling with a psychologist and four crime writers - with Rosalind Minett (chair), Angela Buckley, Barry Faulkner, JJ Franklin & Debbie Young

12noon Preserving Words A linguist, a bookseller, and a librarian discuss the conservation and the evolution of the English language - with Dan Holloway (chair), Hereward Corbett & Dan Gooding

1pm Six Ways to be a Writer Six authors explain their very different approaches to the writing life – with Debbie Young (chair), AA Abbott, Joy Kenward, David Penny, Katharine E Smith & Stella Wilkinson

2pm The Legacies of the First World War Three historians share their research – with Michael MacMahon (chair), Simon Bendry, Lucienne Boyce & Suzie Grogan

3pm Writing for Children Six authors discuss the motion: “There’s no such thing as children’s stories – just great stories” – with Thomas Shepherd (chair), Kate Frost, James Minter, Betty Salthouse, Trevor Stubbs & Miranda Walker

4pm Writing Your Passion Six writers share their passion for writing about unusual subjects – with Caroline Sanderson (chair), Bill Fairney, Jacci Gooding, Peter Lay, Lynne Pardoe & Jann Tracy

5pm Closing Ceremony Presentations, thanks, and farewells
