Most divorces are preventable and not every divorce is solely caused by the Devil.

1. The Foundation: Many people ock to the altar to get married without knowing the originator of the marriage institution. God instituted the marriage institution and to succeed at marriage is to know and involve God from the very beginning. When we make God the foundation of our homes, He would solidify our homes and when challenges come, He would give us the grace to overcome them. Don’t be deceived, challenges must come but your foundation and attitude will determine if you’ll make it through.

2. Lack of Adequate Information: "My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge".....Hosea 4:6. When preparing to get married, many people are usually more interested on the wedding day than on the marriage (Post wedding life). People have more information on wedding cakes, dresses, venues etc than they do on the post wedding life. They invest all their time and resources on the wedding and fail to invest on the marriage. Failure to invest in books, prayers, seminars, workshops and other vital resources will liken you to the soldier who was so eager to go to war that he wore his uniform and forgot to carry a weapon. You can marry God’s will for you and still end up in divorce if you fail to play your part, equip

yourself with adequate information. It is easier to get married than to stay married……equip your self!

3. Sel�shness: Millions of singles around the globe go into a relationship and eventually get married mainly because they want their needs met. This need could be emotional, �nancial, sexual, physical, material etc. Getting married mainly to have a need in your life met is cata-strophic. Naturally, marriage brings a lot of bene�ts to parties involved and that is �ne but to marry just to have a need in your life met is sel�sh. Most people who cheat on their spouses, get hooked on drugs/alcohol and abuse their kids often think only of themselves when they do so. They are oblivious to how their spouses, children, family and people in their lives would feel as a result of their actions. To succeed in a relationship or marriage, selessness is vital. Learn to put your spouse �rst, after God.

C.J MAMACrystal Jane Cosmas Osakwe, popularly known as CJ Mama

of Radio Nigeria Treasure 98.5fm in Port Harcourt city is a writer, a Poet, a musician, a dancer, public speaker and

above all, a proud mother of six with a loving and supportive husband. She is also called The Bishop of The Airwaves.

The Niger Deltan born broadcaster started out her life as a front desk receptionist with Image & Slogans Consultant in Owerri, Nigeria. Right there as a receptionist, one of the broadcasters of that time, Late Chief Chike Egbuna, popularly known as “Mr Soul” was the first to notice her flare and talent. He was the gen-eral manager of Imo Broadcasting Corporation, IBC Owerri then, and he gave her the first audition of her life. This opportunity by “Mr Soul” gave her the strength and confidence to believe in her talent that was noticed back in her Secondary School days at Daughters of Divine Love, Abakpa-Nike Enugu. Through the years that followed, she got full time into Journalism “the print media,” she became the editor of Life on the family Magazine, sub-editor for Snoopers Magazine, a soft sell and sub-editor for Punch news papers alongside Mr Felix Ofou. Her career as a print Journalist took another turn when she worked with NZE Akachukwu Nwankpo of Think LTD, who is presently the Senior Special Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan on special duties who influenced her life largely. Working with Think LTD brought her in contact with former head of State, General Yaku-bu Gowon, and Late Senator Milford Obiene Okilo, two times Governor of the old Rivers State. This man Melford Obiene Okilo was to have the greatest influence over her life as she worked closely with him. He introduced her to the University of Science and Philosophy, Virginia Where she was to learn the true philosophy of life “Living Phi-losophy” as he called it. This was the turning point in her whole life; a defining period that shaped and moulded her completely. She was also to head the College of Science and Philosophy here in Nigeria, the affiliate of University of Science and Philoso-phy whose founders were Walter and Lao Russell.

This lady popularly known as CJ Mama has had her own share of life troubles and challenges and in that, she found God and God also, through those troubles found her, shaped her, helped her and celebrated her. Through the help of God, in the past four years, she has won several awards national and international. To mention but few:

.Three times consecutive winner of the Niger Deltan Advance-ment Awards 2007, 2008, 2009. That saw her to the champion planet and she was banned from contesting till 3years elapses.

She’s made the front pages of Magazines, speaks professionally in Churches and Schools. She is also the founder of An N.G.O called, “The Seven & the Eight Club” singles and strong for young growing people to get a strong grip on their lives for the moms. She’s the matron of many societies and groups. She’s said to have had the greatest and biggest influence on music artistes in the Niger Delta because of the promotion she gives their music on air.

CJ Mama has gone fully back into music which was what took her to Radio Nigeria in the first place. She has her full Album titled “STAY WITH ME” Out now; a fifteen track package. She’s presently shooting her musical Videos, and some of the Videos like, “Cell fone love” is playing in different TV Stations in and out of the country. You can’t afford to miss this Album and of course, we will miss her sonorous voice on Radio Nigeria, Treasure 98.5fm, PHC as she is now presently, the General Manager for Love FM 103.9, Umuahia, Abia State. She continues to do what she loves most-broadcasting and music. She’s ever smiling, kind hearted, loving and always a joy to be with. She’s a must meet person if you can get to do it.

The secrets of champions they say are in their stories. What stories are you accumulating right now for the Glory ahead of you? Even Christ Himself, who

was for the “GLORY” set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame. Keep holding on; every success and great achievement is a refinement of debris of failure, and in every shame and pain of today lies the fame and gain of tomorrow.

I give all Glory and Adoration to God Almighty who has made this Edition a reality. We suffered a delay before its actualisation simply because we had difficulties in getting Adverts and even those we advertised for in our last edition, many are yet to respond positively. But in all and all, God is still faithful because we know, no Glory without story, no promotion without examination, no testimony without a test. Are you still waiting for God to push you to jump before you take the first step? Why not jump and allow God to catch you instead of waiting for Him to push you? Remember, every “if I perish I perish” in the Bible never perished-Esther, Job, Abraham, Nehemiah, David, Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego and many others. They all put their trust in God and none was put to shame even when all hope seemed lost. The owner of the vision will surely make provision! God is not after your inability, He’s after your availability; when you are available, He makes you able. Remember until you take charge you can never be in charge and not to be in charge is to be discharged even without a charge. And when you over wait for things to happen, you may ultimately waste before things happen. You can never be a REFERENCE until you have accumulated REFERENCES. Keep keeping on, no GLORY without STORY.

A GOOD RACE

I Corinthians 9:24 “Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run that ye may obtain.”

In athletics several things can disqualify a competitor. Take track

events for example. A false start can bar an athlete from competing. A false start is when a competitor takes off from the starting block before the gun or the whistle. If you ask those who have been disqualified for this offence you are probably going to be told it was due to their anxiety. Most of the wrong moves people make can be

traced to unmitigated agitation. Those whose past year wasn’t quite brilliant are running to make for lost ground. And those who have done well want extra feather to their cap. Either way, people work themselves to frenzy. The words of Jesus should come to the rescue here; He taught us not to be anxious for anything. The guarantee for a good race is to commit everything to God in prayer.

Athletes also get disqualified by straying into other people’s lane. No matter how fast a sprinter is, unless he keeps to his track he stands the risk of running in vain. Paul stated expressly that he was not fighting as beating the air or running in uncertain direction; he was running to win. But he didn’t come to this state by accident. From the time he met the Lord on the way to Damascus he asked for what heaven had in store for him. It is a wise thing, if we can ask heaven what kind of race God would have us run this season. Not all battles are meant for you to fight; nor are you called to run in all direction. God has something specific for you. Go for it!

...BECOMING A LIFE CHANGER WITH YOUR DREAM.

I want to start by asking a question, Can you Change life with your Dream? I’m sure you are pondering on the question but do you know that every better comfort around us today is a dream comes true for someone who thirsted for a dream, got the dream and paid the price? The world we live in today has without any doubt,

become better than the world that existed before it. The evidence of civilization that surround us today with varieties of equipments of comfort are once again proves of what dreams can transform a society into. Take for example the act of cooking, it may look easy in this age but it was not that easy at the beginning of creation. It was the tradi-tional method of knocking two stones against each other, gathering dry leaves and wood together and creating flame with patience for the cooking process to begin. Then suddenly, after living with this method for so long, someone desired a change, needed a dream on how this process can be simplified; how to create flame without the use of tra-ditional stone. Did the dreamer succeed? The existence of the matches that you have in little and big packets all over the world today is the answer you need. Then someone else took it from there and dreamt new dreams and now we can experience the comfort of lighters and electric cookers that have no need of matches. Every better comfort around us today is a dream comes true for someone who thirsted for it. Got the dream and paid the price until the dream became a reality.

To proceed further, it will do us some good to define what we mean by a dream. If you and I are going to get our dreams fulfilled, we need to have some clear understanding of what a dream is, in the context of this write up.

A DREAM is a picture of a desirable and wonderful future within the mind. It is a vision, an imagination or a train of thoughts in the mind of any person about the better possibilities of the future.

In other words, no one needs to possess all the answer or possess all the resources required to translate a dream into fulfilment before he can dream. There are different stages that every dream has to pass through before it becomes a reality but the beginning is for the mind of the dreamer to have a strong conviction about the possibility in a new and better way of doing things or living life. Once any mind is on that frequency, a dream is a great possibility.

Ogori-Magongo is a combination of two different towns that have

so many things in common including Culture, Festivals, Dressing, Language, Names etc. And the only two towns that made up a very unique Local Government Area in Kogi State of Nigeria. (Ogori-Magongo Local Government) The two towns are located at a distance of approxi-mately five kilometers from the neighboring Edo State. A part of the former Kwara

State later incorporated as part of Kogi State after the creation of Kogi state in 1990. Akpafa is the head-quarters of Ogori-Magongo Local Government Area in Kogi State; it’s situated at the centre of the two towns. The primary language spoken is ‘Oko’ as it is called by the Ogori people and ‘osayin' by the Magongo people while Yoruba is their second-ary language.

Ogori-Magongo, though small in size geographically, but the thick-ness of her culture/festivals cannot be overlooked. More importantly, the quality of men and women that have emanated from her bosom which has really attracted both na-tional and international attention are numerous in number.

Of these, Ovia-Osese is the most popular, a yearly celebration of womanhood which always attracts international audience and being projected in NTA Network News and some International Televisions home and abroad.

OVIA OSESE The Ovia-Osese is an annual cultural festival, it marks the celebration of Womanhood and it’s been celebrat-

ed two weeks after Easter celebration in Ogori, and two weeks after Ogori celebra-tion in Magongo. The tradi-tional female chief "Iyaodina" is in charge of the festival rites. The maidens that have reached the age of initiation are secluded at the Iyaodina's palace for a period of time. On the day of the Osese, the maidens dance and sing traditional songs in a large field to signify their coming of age. The girls are adorned in many beads around their necks, and in their headdress. Traditionally, the girls would be bare chested with only a cloth around their waist. But as times have changed, they now cover their breasts as well. On their ankles, they

wear a band that makes a sound when they stomp their feet.

This Cultural festival which holds in Ogori/Magongo in Kogi state has been described as a revered festival which is one of the few festivals that preserve our culture and values. The Director General of Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation, Otunba Olusegun Runsewe made the obser-vation during the courtesy visit by a delegation of Ogori Descendant Union ODU. The NTDC's boss said the Ovia Osese festival stood out as one of the festivals that are highly regard-ed in the country.

Otunba Runsewe gave the assurance that the NTDC would support the event both materially and technically adding that a team from NTDC would be present at the festival. "We assure you of our unconditional support for the festival," he added. Otunba Runsewe also assured the delegation of NTDC support for the hosting of a website for the festival particularly for marketing and promotion both locally and abroad for the festival.

The delegation had solicited the assistance of NTDC to help the community internationalize the festival lamenting that in spite of the potentialities of the festival to the community and the nation, the community was incapable of taking the festival to the world alone. "The hosting of the festival in spite of its great potentials has remained solely the responsibility of the community. This has often hampered its scope and organization". Adding, "It is our plan to take the festival to the world and we believe you can help us in this regard."

The Ovia Osese cultural festival has a history of close to a century; it is one festival that has annually attracted thousands to her land including foreigners.

IDU FESTIVAL Idu is celebrated as the beginning of the commencement of harvest season as concerns Yam. Traditionally, yam is referred as the primary and major staple food.

IGILOFIFI In this festival, age groups gather to perform hunting and communal work. After that they are dressed in palm fronts and perform a bonfire-dance around roasted yams. Youths that bend down to pick the yams are beaten with horsewhips on their back, a sheer display of youthful exuberance

ERIMI This is a masquerade used in cel-ebrating the death of an aged man.

LANGUAGEThe origin of Ogori-Magongo and her gradual development into a distinct minority tribe with its own distinct identity and custom is very interest-ing; there is no doubt that as a new language; it’s a hybrid of old and new languages formed by combination of words.

It is an interesting fact that every-body in Ogori-Magongo also speaks Yoruba as a second language. This is not unconnected with the Yoruba ancestry. Many people within the town also speak the language of the neighboring towns in Kogi and Edo States due to socio-economic inter-actions with these people.

DRESSING Owing to the Yoruba ancestry of these people, their dressing mode is Yoruba in nature. The women wear "Iro and Buba" which is a local blouse with wrapper. The hair is interwoven with or without beads and occasion-ally covered with scarf or head tie called "gele". Gele is particularly used during occasions. Native ornaments worn by women include beads of different sizes, designs and cost. Men wear "buba and soro" which could be sown in different ways and styles. Other forms of dressing for men include "Dansiki" and "Agbada," both are a kind of gown for men, while Dansiki is a mini gown, agbada is a luxurious overflowing gown.

As a dressing compliment for the head, men normally cover their heads with caps. There are different kinds of caps worn by the men, some caps are ordinary and could be worn

by anybody while some are symbolic. Symbolic beaded caps are Yoruba crowns worn by kings and chief-taincy title holders. Title holders also wear beads on their wrists.

Clothing types include different kinds of locally woven clothes like Kitipa, Aso-Oke and Campala. Exotic cloth-ing materials include Damask, Ankara and divers kinds of Lace materials.

MONARCHYThe traditional ruler of the Ogori town is the Ologori, while the Oluma-gongo rules the affairs of Magongo. This monarch institute has existed for more than a hundred years. The Mon-arch is supported by a class of titled Barons, these are the Ekekaros. This group of Barons is made up of the Otaros (high chiefs) and Eyas (Chiefs). The traditional council consists of the following chiefs:

Otaro-Idu Obin is the king. Otaro-Senior: Daudu or heir pre-sumptive. Also serves as the regent Otaro senior: Deputy Premier Otaro: Other rank and file, these are equivalent to Barons and form the council of the senate. Uburo Osiako Oya Orenyanada Odina: Distributor of gifts and loots from wars Ogbajiri: field commander or War commandant Uya: Executioner Ojogbe: Group or clan errand men or emissaries Sodje: Osama: Otaro's bodyguard or adviser Asigiri: Diviner Iya-odina

Welcome to another very interesting, illuminating and thought provoking

edition of our magazine; and this column of the magazine, especially! We have been looking for the past few edi-tions, at the mind of God for us in this end- times! That is to say, what is God saying to us and what are His expectations for and from us? Judging from Biblical prophecies, how are we expected to handle the challenges of these times, and how can we in fact survive them? And finally, how does the Lord expect us to prepare for the second coming of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and how can we as Christians in these end-times, despite the challenges of the times still be able to run our race to the finish without backslid-ing or falling victim of the times, and be able still to fulfill purpose and destiny in grand style. Thank you for joining us once again as we progress in our expositions in equip-ping and preparing ourselves for the times we are in!

In our past editions, we had been discuss-ing on the need to first all be connected to the God who only can see us through these times and bring us out victoriously and alive and well. That is by connecting to Him through his son Jesus Christ! Talking about the need to be born again. Acts 4;12. Jn. 3;16. Jn. 3;3. We took our cue from Dan. 11; 32b, which helps us understand that in the last days, it is only those who do know their God that will be strong and do exploits! We therefore, reasoned that if this be the case , then there is a need for us, and a very perti-nent one to seek to know and connect with this great God. And from the Holy Scriptures as stated above, we discovered that the only way to achieve this is by receiving the gift of

salvation through His son. ( i.e, by getting born-again.). Having properly established and thoroughly dealt with this fact in our last editions, let us look at what the Lord is saying to us in this edition.

Five of those virgins were wise; they had kept their integrity and their lamps were still burning; their robes were without spot and blemish. The other five were foolish, for their lamps had gone out. They were backslidden. Please check your oil level! When the saints go marching in, may you not miss heaven in Jesus’ holy name. Amen! May all your labour for all these years in His vineyard not be in vain at last! May I see you in heaven and together we shall sing; ‘Oh Sister Debbie, at last, at last, we made it by grace.’ Amen and Amen!

Whether we like it or not, Jesus is coming soon and I tell you it’s closer than we all think and know, so there is a need to prepare. Let us not live our lives like the people in the days of my brother Noah who hardened their hearts to the voice and instructions of the Lord. They simply refused to heed God’s warnings as delivered to them by His servant Noah and at the end, were all destroyed in the flood. Remember that the Bible records that those things were written to us for an example. My prayer is that you, (reading this particular column today) and

I, will not be found wanting on that day in Jesus holy name Amen! Because as the Bible states, it’s going to be very terrible for those that will be left behind after the rapture! But like I said earlier, that will not be our portion in Jesus name. But there is a need to prepare. And prepare we must! “…both literature and history are replete with man’s unending quest to break free from internal imperialism.”Leadership failure in Nigeria has been a major impediment in our march to nationhood and real independence. Year after year, decade after decade, administration after administration, system after system, policies after policies, have all pointed to one singular fact: our leaders are purpose-barren and vision-finished. As we celebrate independence annually, we the followers, go home after every 1st of October, bowing our heads down in shame, in agony and in tears. Sure, we have been unsuccessful and unworthy of emulation; even if we have leaders who would dispute this with their “white papers.” Sometimes I wonder, “What is wrong with our land?” “Is it in our land even?” But as I contemplate further, I remember Shakespeare, who once said that, “The fault is not in our stars, but in ourselves, that we’re underlings” (Julius Caesar, I, ii, 140-141).Sincerely, neither our colonial masters nor fate is responsible for the prolonged poverty, corruption, maladministration that have plagued us as a country in the past fifty, I mean, fifty good years; but the self-ish and dishonest leadership style we have had in the past fifty years. One major undoing of our country is that we have always had leaders who never feel what the masses are feeling. They feign ignorant of our collective pain. Like the proverbial elephant who stepped on a poisonous thorn, but made light of this thorn deeply imbedded in his foot, judging his size, as his strength and resistance; unmindful of the fact that as time wore on, this thorn became infected right in-side his body and eventually led to his death. In the same way, Nigerian leaders have shown a carefree, indeed an “I dey kampe” attitude to the numerous thorns that are about to put out our national life.That our shame and tears are brought upon us by

own leaders are no longer debatable. Like many African writers have lamented and insisted, through fiction after fiction, play after play, verse after verse, that: Nigerians and only Nigerians can clean up this country. Citing Chinua Achebe’s The Trouble with Nigeria, a little book I read during my undergradu-ate days, Achebe proved that our leaders should be held accountable and responsible: “Corruption goes with power, therefore to hold any useful discussion of corruption; we must first locate it where it prop-erly belongs---in the ranks of the powerful” (38). In this 63-page work published in the 80s’, I feel, he had submitted a guide on how to recover our beloved country. Yes, Nigerians have gained a global reputa-tion for being densely corrupt, owing to the blatant display of wealth by our politicians and public office holders, without any sense of accountability. This has further heightened the lust for political positions by almost every Tom Dick and Harry. In summary, a better Nigeria is possible. Our lead-ers must show a sincere commitment to serving the people and re-building our fatherland. We must have a national re-orientation; where our motive for leadership would be redefined: to build a strong, secured and economically- buoyant nation. A nation where our children can smile again, a nation where our youths can see hope in promises and willingly let down their arms; a nation where a vast popula-tion of our people could live their dream. A very successful Nigerian Man in Holland parked his brand-new Lexus in front of his office, ready to show it off to his

colleagues. As he got out, a truck passed too close and completely tore off the door on the driver's side. The man immediately grabbed his cell phone, called the cops, and within minutes a policeman pulled up. Before the officer had a chance to ask any questions, the Nigerian man started screaming hysterically. His Lexus, which he had just picked up the day before, was now completely ruined and would never be the same, no matter what the body shop did to it. When the man finally wound down from his ranting and raving, the officer shook his head in disgust and disbelief. "I can't believe how materialistic you Nigerians are", he said. "You are so focused on your possessions that you don't notice anything else." "How can you say such a thing?" asked the Nigerian man. The cop replied, "Don't you know that your left arm is missing from the elbow down? It must have been torn off when the truck hit you.""My God!" screamed the man. "Where's my Rolex?

There is this Rev father who was very fond of stopping a particular Rev. Sister after every 6:00am mass. He strikes

a conversation and makes her talk while he stares steadily at her vast B**bs. After many days of the same thing, the following discussion ensued:

Rev. Sis :- Father, sorry to ask, but why do you always stare at my natural gift every morning?

Rev. Father: - Oh! Sorry sister.

(Father tries to walk away embarrassed)

Rev. Sis :- Seriously, please I would like to know. Did God speak to you about it?

Rev. Father: - oh yes! He tells me every night that He would sweeten my mouth with milk and honey. I've seen the honey and was hoping you might be able to provide the milk.

A man was upset because he had lost his favorite hat. Instead ofbuying a new one, he decided that he

would go to church that Sundayand steal one from the vestibule. Unfortunately, the usher saw the mancome in and before he could go into the vestibule, the usher led himto a pew, where the preacher was just beginning a sermon on the TenCommandments.After church, the man went up to the preacher and, shook his hand andsaid: "I want to thank you for saving my soul today. I came to churchto steal a hat, but after hearing your sermon on the Ten Commandments,I changed my mind.""Why, that's wonderful," the preacher said: "So the commandment 'Thoushalt not steal' changed your mind, did it?""No, it wasn’t that commandment," the man said: "It was the one aboutadultery. It reminded me where I left my hat!"

A priest was preparing a man for his long day's journey into night.Whispering firmly, the priest said:

"Denounce the devil! Let him knowhow little you think of his evil!"The dying man said nothing, so the priest repeated his order. Still,the dying man said nothing. A man walked up to a farmer's house and knocked on the door. When awoman opened the door, the man

The visiting minister was surprised when he went into the pulpit tofind just one person in the congregation

The concept of skill plays an important role in personal and national growth and development. Experience has shown that it is the man of skill, not the muscular man that will always and eventually win the competition and fulfill the task life brings before us. It is the man of skill that can successfully beat deadlines. Skill, by definition is the learned capacity to carry out an assignment for excellent results, often with the minimum outlay of time, energy, or both. According to Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English, Skill is put forward as, ‘an ability to do something well, especially because you have learned and practiced it. Put differently, skill is a reserve of knowledge, experience, and ability. It is business tactics that guarantee efficiency and positive excellence. A simple classification of skill gives us:• General and• Specific skills

Taking the work place for example, in the work environment, some general skills would include time management, teamwork and leadership, self motivation and others, whereas specific skills would be useful only for a certain job. Skill usually requires certain environmental stimuli and situations to assess the level of skill being shown and used. There is nothing you can ever get done well without knowing how to do it. More so, the quality of your skill will determine the quality of your output, your worth and your growth in whichever environment you find yourself. The truth is, every man’s skill, if rightly used is capable of paying his bill. Unfortunately, some folks around us are ignorant of the power of skill, and this is a major undoing of our time. The Nigerian society and more specifically, people from oil-bearing communities do not believe in skill acquisition but in “money accumulation.” Regrettably, even the few who

have indicated some form of interest in skills acquisition are still not fully convinced on why they should besubmissive to a non-indigene, who has the skill and is willing to pass it on to them via training. Hence, they end up with half-baked or zero training. Even among some of our religious friends, there is an erroneous conception that fasting, prayers and other religious activities are equal to skill, indeed, could substitute for it. But no sooner had they become addicted to these, than they will realize that these activities, though strong and effective, are poor substitute for skill. Skill is not a gift, so you can neither pray it nor covet it; it is not tricks, which is the

“strength” of today’s traders; it is not natural resources, which we as indigenes can lay claim to. It is ideas and specific knowledge that are consciously acquired through training for results. I could sit here and start listing randomly "good sounding" characteristics such as ambition, integrity, boldness, drive, motivation, etc. But beyond all these, here are other 5 charac-teristics of every successful entrepreneurs that I have ever met, known and read about.

First: A successful entrepreneur can do the impossible - create a huge enterprise out of an idea that millions of other people believe can never work. He/she can make something out of nothing. Many people who start with nothing end with noth-ing. An entrepreneur does not follow this norm. No matter the disadvantages or set backs, a successfulentrepreneur can change his/her situation to anything he/she wants. A successful entrepreneur can change his/her destiny.

These examples include, Dele Momodu who started the Ova-tion Interna-tional that you know today from a small space in Mushin (I guess you know that place in Lagos) and Mark Zuckerberg, an Harvard drop-out whostarted Facebook from his personal laptop.

Second: A successful entrepreneur knows how to seize op-portunity. This one sounds easy, but in reality, many people let some of the best opportunities slide by unnoticed. Contrary to popular belief, "opportunity" does not magically appear at your doorstep and wait for your response. Opportunity is something that a person has to go out and find. You have to seek it out like a jungle treasure hunt and conquer the traps set along the way. A successful entrepreneur knows this and does this daily.

Third: A successful entrepreneur has to network. True, there are many "anonymous millionaires," and although anonymous to you and me, they are not anonymous to the people that played a part in creating thatmillionaire's wealth. You do not have to be world famous, but you do have to know a couple people in the particular "money making circle" of your interest if you want to achieve large amounts of wealth. Therefore, for example, if you want to start a entertainment company, it would be nice to know someone like Obi Asika of Storm Records, Audu Maikori of Chocolate City and others. You will benefit a lot from their wealth of experi-ence and they will help you to easily find your way around.

Fourth: A successful entrepreneur knows when to walk away. There is going to be a time when you have to cut your losses because down time will always come. A successful entrepre-neur knows when that timeoccurs. Remember, these are not the high seas. You do not have to go down with the ship! You may think that this characteristic contradicts the first characteristic I mentioned. However, the first characteristic relates to an entrepreneurs personal life and this point relates to business.

Last: Once an entrepreneur has achieved large amounts of wealth, he/she gives back to those who have need of it. A suc-cessful entrepreneur uses his/her wealth to help change the world for the better. A good example is Bill Gates who is giving all his money away to charities all over the world.

FOUR STAGES OF A MAN’S LIFE…As we get older, we start to look back at our lives and wonder, what if? What if I had scored that broad?

What if I had placed that bet? What if I had whacked that stool pigeon when I had the chance? What if…? But I’m going to let you in on a little secret. No matter how many “what if” scenarios you play out

in that small head of yours, you’ll always have regrets in life because you’ll never appreciate what you have until it’s too late. Why? Simple! Because we go through stages, stages in which we change from boys to men, and eventually to grumpy old men who act like boys again.

Where do you fit in? Those stages are the real schools of life, no matter what that fancy piece-of-crap Ivy League degree says. Why is this important for you to remember? Because if you don’t realize what stage of life you’re in, you won’t know when it’s time to speak and when it’s time to listen.

STAGE 1Young, dumb & full of impulses. In this stage: You think with your heart. Your mentor: Nobody. We'll consider the first stage of a man's life as approximately the first 25 youthful years. In this stage, you're far from being a man. Everything you do is reckless and not planned out. You're a risk-taker because you don't know how dangerous the risks are. You don't think about the consequences of your actions. You think of your needs, your desires. You're a self-ish man. You have no need or respect for authority. Worse, you think you know everything there is to know about life, yet you know nothing. You could be smart, but you're not smart enough. You're blinded by your inexperience and stupidity. You chase skirts like a baboon. You're a kid in a candy store.

What should you be doing in this stage? Keeping your mouth shut and learning from others. Plain and simple! You will fall down. Just make sure you're falling down a flight of stairs, not the Grand Canyon. Be smart about your risks because burning people you might need in the future is not smart. Cement friendships, cement loyalties. You're toodumb and stupid to orchestrate a revolution; learn what you need to know to do that in the next stage of a man's life. Stay ambitious, but have a plan for that ambition. Find a good woman who will clean and cook for you... you need a strong foundation.

At times, if there are no rules in the game, that's OK too, and you learn how to play along. You realize the world is great but corrupt, and you must adapt. You're gaining a bit of wisdom. If you don't know what I'm talking about, you're still in Stage 1, even if your driver's license says you were born in 1952. Those who know what I'm talking about know that I don't need to explain what these "rules" are. There is no damn instruction booklet you get on your 30th birthday. They know what they are because they under-stand the ways of the world.

In this stage of life, you start to respect and appreciate authority. At this point in your life, you've come to appreciate and respect the need for structure, for authority. You begin to fear things such as the risk of failure, the consequences of actions, of not being right. But it doesn't stop you from trying to execute your ambition. You'rejust smarter about how you accomplish your goals. You still love women, but you don't chase them anymore. By now you've picked the three women in your life: your wife, your mistress and your girl-friend.

What should you be doing in this stage? You should still be learn-ing and listening, but now you're taking action too. You realize that you're not going to be a trainee for life; you will be a student and then become a teacher. You start figuring things out and start delivering results. This is the enlightenment stage of your life and you revel in the chance to fulfill your destiny as a man. Most importantly, you stop being a cafone. You don't make dumb mistakes anymore. You make smart mistakes.

The third stage is the greatest stage in life because this is where you come to terms with what you have and haven't accomplished in life. You accept your shortcomings and failures, and enjoy your victories. You're now ready to pass your wisdom and life experience on to others. You're always learning, but now you do it because you enjoy it, not because you need it. You become a teacher. You're no longer

a wise guy; you're a wise man. You don't have time for BS anymore. You're a don.

At this point, you've learned and mastered all the lessons I've written about in my articles. Everything makes sense; you understand how everything in life works. Best of all, mistakes disappear, and you ra-tion your words so that when you speak, everyone listens. You com-mand respect and deserve it. This is when you have the opportunity to be cocky; to say "I know it all." But, of course, you're too smart to do that. You stop fearing death -- you accept it. You realize that you won't master Latin, but you come to accept that too and deal with what you do know.

What should you be doing in this stage? I don't have to tell you, you know. Life is good.

Biggest strength: You are wise. You are made. Biggest weakness: You don't take many risks. But who needs to take risks when you have a Filipina mistress and a house in Arizona next to a golf course?

On to the last stage of a man's life, the one that comes right before you die…

STAGE 4The bitter, old man. In this stage: You don't think with your brain, you're senile. Your mentor: Frank Sinatra.

The fourth stage in a man's life is a sad stage because you start to regress. You can't go up; you can't become wiser, so you go down and get stupid again. Despite your wisdom, despite your experience, despite what you've accomplished, the consensus is that you did that back when people didn't have refrigerators. Your wisdom and yourunderstanding of the ways of the world have become outdated. You become irrelevant and you can't stand it because you were once so highly respected. So you become bitter and start bitching about it, like a kid. At its worst, you reverse your growth and go back to having the same characteristics of the young fool. You become emotional, irrational, "no one shows me respect; no one cares about me; back in the old days we knew what it was like to suffer," etc. You fear no one (except guys in white jackets) because you have Alzheimer's. You still teach, but people don't listen like they used to. If you were the Boss of your "family," you become the retired boss, a symbolic figurehead because someone else is calling the shots and you haven't finished writing up your will yet. You start chasing skirts again -- nurses with skirts.

What should you be doing in this stage? What does it matter? You're going to die soon. Here's a tip: don't pee on the carpet when you visit your daughter-in-law.

Biggest strength: You likely become an intermediary in disputes. You will be sought out for your unbiased (if outdated) opinion.Biggest weakness: You're becoming irrelevant and don't know it.

What do you focus on and prioritize as the leader of your business? Activity is not the same as productivity. Motion

does not always signify progress. Activity is not necessarily accomplishment. Diligence is not necessarily effectiveness. Faithfulness is never the same as fruitfulness. Not all efforts bring about results. There is aworld of difference between getting things done (busy) and gettingresults (progress). Telling the difference is what this article is all about. Knowing the difference is what really makes some leaders more successful than others. Successful leaders are leaders with an eagle’s eye: they practice and live by the principle of focus and priority. They are not activity driven (busy), they are result driven (progress). They don’t care about knowing or doing everything; they are mostly concerned about knowing and doing the main things. Great leaders are not a repository of everything or anything; they are repositories of only what matters. They don’t see everything, they only see what matters. They don’t go after everything; they only pursue the main things. They see, not as we see; they see through the eyes of the eagle; they see based on priority and they focus only on their vision. It asks “how does this decision, situation or action play out and affect my initial vision, destination or intention?” it asks, “what is the place or role of this decision, situation or action in my overall intention, destination or vision?” it doesn’t just do, but does only when it finds a purpose, a place or reason for what needs to be done in the overall scheme of things. Every move, decision and action is tied to a predetermined end, purpose or vision. It is interested in doing only what matters; such things that would significantly affect the bottom-line. That is; the original vision, purpose and objective initially agreed upon. It weighs every action, decision or situation against the ultimate goal, vision or purpose in mind. Eagle eye leadership is all about focus; a concentrated effort or attention on a particular thing (in this case, a vision) and priority; following or doing only the

things with the greatest returns and of the greatest importance (in this case, purpose). Therefore, eagle eye leadership is all about focusing on the vision only and making the fulfillment of the purpose your priority. In other words, you focus the vision and prioritize the purpose. That is to say, you make the vision your main emphasis and then you put the purpose above in front of all you do. This is what I mean; your task as the leader is to make the vision of the business your destination (focus) and make the purpose why you are in business your number one goal or objective (priority).

Focus the visionThe vision is the mental picture of the business in the mind of the leader, it could be an image or concept conceived through imagination. The vision often refers to where or what the leader perceives and sees

the business to be in the nearest future. The vision is a mental projection of the business, a mental destination for the business. It is usually future–bound. What tomorrow will look like, where we want to be in some year’s time, how big we hope to be. The vision is the mental picture of a better or preferable future for the business. This is what the leader must emphasize on. A business without a vision is a business without direction. There’s only one place such a business will end up; nowhere!

Prioritize the PurposeThe purpose is the original reason why the business was created. It is the initial intent of the founder of the business. The purpose is why the business exists; why they open up for business everyday, and whythey ever considered starting up such a business in the first place. The purpose usually is determined in the past long before the business came into

existence. It is the foundation on which the business was built; this is why it’s seldom changed. The purpose dwells on the outcome of the business, it doesn’t focus on outputs. Outputs are the exact goods or services offered by the business to the market, while outcomes are those needs being met by the goods and services produced. While the vision of a business can always be changed since it’s something you project, the purpose most times remains unchanging unless it’s no longer of relevance to the market. The purpose is not something the leader sees and decides to obey or follow. The purpose of a business is often the need the business was created to meet or fulfill. So does your business have a purpose for its existence besides just making money?

Some where in Congonhas do Campo was aheroic God-sent peasant farmer, Ze Arigo who was also known as The Surgeon Of The Rusty Knife. In him was the ability to carry out major surgical operations in seconds that conventional surgery will take hours to complete. No antisepsis was used and there was no ensuing infection, he was able to stop the flow of blood with just a verbal command; he attended to about 300 patients per day. He cured terminal diseases like cancer and leukemia; he cured leprosy; and many other severe conditions that conventional doctors have given up on. Believe it or not, Arigo was an ordinary peasant farmer; he never went beyond third grade and never studied medicine or any related subject yet he was able to write swiftly some of the most sophisticated prescriptions in modern pharmacology. His work was confirmed by prominent citizens such as President Kubitschek (builder of Brasilia), Singer Roberto Carlos, prominent Dr. Henry Puharich and Henry Belk (both U.S.A. ) among many others. The only tool used by Arigo was rusty, dirty-looking penknife and sometimes a black crucifix. When hewas asked in court in October 1956, his words were: I am not the one who is doing this. I am just an intermediary between a spirit and the people. It is the spirit of Dr. Fritz. He insists that I help people, and I am just doing what God wants me to do. Arigo died on January 11, 1971 in an auto accident.

2 A 5-YEAR OLD PERUVIAN: WORLD’S YOUNGEST MOTHER: Into the hospital at Pisco ( Peru ) came a tired, raggedIndian woman from the foothills of the Andes . She led by the hand a shy little girl, scarcely three feet tall, with chestnut braids and an enormously bulging abdomen. Pointing to the frightened girl, the Indian begged Surgeon Geraldo Lozada to exorcise the evil spirits which have taken possession of her. Certain that little Lina Medina had an abdominal tumor, Dr, Lozada examined her, received the surprise of his life when he discovered that she was eight months pregnant. Dr. Lozada took her to Lima , the capital of Peru , prior to the surgery to have other specialists confirm

that Lina was in fact pregnant. A month and a half later, on May 14, 1939 ; she gave birth to a boy by a cesarean section necessitated by her small pelvis. Thesurgery was per-formed by Dr. Lozada, Dr. Busalleu, with Dr. Colretta providing an-esthesia. Her case was reported in detail by Dr.Edmundo Escomel to La Presse Medicale, along with additional details that hermenarche had oc-curred at 8 months of age, and that she had had prominent breasts develop-ment by the age of 4. By age 5 her figure displayed pelvic wid-ening and advanced bone maturation.

3 MOROCCO’S CLIMBING GOATS: Goats climbing trees? FUNNY! BIZZARE! But it’s true. Goats on trees are found mostly in Morocco . The goats climb them because they like to eat the fruit of the argan tree, which is similar to an olive. Farmers actually follow the herds of goats as they move from tree to tree. Not because it is so strange to see goats in trees, but because the fruit of the tree has a nut inside which the goats can’t digest, so they spit it up or excrete it which the farmers collect.The nut contains 1-3 kernels which can be ground to make argan oil used in cooking and cosmetics. This oil has been collected by the people of the region for hundreds of years, but like many wild and useful things these days, the argan tree is slowly disappear-ing due to over harvesting for the tree’s wood and overgrazing by goats.

A young man was getting ready to graduate from college. For manymonths he had admired a beautiful sports car

in a dealer's showroom,and knowing his father could well afford it, he told him that was allhe wanted.

As Graduation Day approached, the young man awaited signs that his father had purchased the car. Finally, on the morning of his graduation, his father called him into his private study. His father told him how proud he was to have such a fine son, and told him how much he loved him. He handed his son a beautifully wrapped gift box. Curious, but somewhat disappointed, the young man opened the box and found a lovely, leather-bound Bible, with the young man's name embossed in gold. Angry, he raised his voice to his father and said "With all your money, you give me a Bible?" and stormed out of the house, leav-ing the Bible.

Many years passed and the young man was very successful in business. He had a beautiful home and wonderful family, but realized his father was very old, and thought perhaps he should go to him. He had not seen him since that graduation day. Before he could make arrangements, he received a telegram telling him his father had passed away, and willed all of his possessions to his son. He needed to come home immediately and take care of things.

When he arrived at his father's house, sudden sad-ness and regret filled his heart. He began to search through his father's important papers and saw the still new Bible, just as he had left it years ago. With tears, he opened the Bible and began to turn the pages. And as he did, a car key dropped from the back of the Bible. It had a tag withthe dealer's name, the same dealer who had the sports car he had desired. On the tag was the date of his graduation, and the words PAID IN FULL.

How many times do we miss God’s blessings and an-swers to our prayersbecause they do not arrive exactly as we have expect-

ed? Many times weeven threaten to leave the faith and so many people have. God has answered our prayers. If you can’t see it with your eyes, look with your spirit. It’s there in His word. If you are challenged today, your answer is in His word. I challenge you to shun complain and open His word today. The key is in there.

Customer Relationship Management (CRM)

Often referred to as a type of technology, customer relationship management (CRM) is first and

foremost a business philosophy – a way to consistently treat your guest’s right. Technology is the enabler that helps get useful information into the hands of your management and staff so that they can more powerfully foster guest satisfaction and loyalty. The big payoff is increased revenue, increased profits and more targeted marketing efforts in the hospitality industry.. CRM solutions typically evolve from simple manual processes, to standalone software and eventually to fully integrated systems spanning all channels and guest touch-points. The ability to analyze historical data in countless ways, including gives strategic decision makers the factual knowledge they need to guide the organization toward its goals, and gives front line staff the customer knowledge they need to treat their guests like gold. CRM technology has become an important force in many industries, hospitality included that can help give hotels the edge over competitors while maximizing profitability, revenue and customer satisfaction. Some organizations may be more technically advanced than others but the CRM journey is a continuous one. As more data is gathered over time, new insights are illuminated and acted upon. CRM Tools Hotels generally gather information through their PMS, uploading and retrieving information regularly from a CRM database. Some hotels can handle their CRM requirements directly from the PMS alone especially when upgraded with increasingly powerful modules that have query capabilities. But the more robust and powerful practice is to implement horizontal CRM systems designed specifically for the purpose of gathering data from multiple sources, scrubbing the information to enhance data integrity and analyzing data in a myriad of ways. The CRM must be fully integrated with existing CRS, PMS, Web site and other IT infrastructure and architecture. Benefits and Pitfalls When CRM is mastered, corporate benefits abound. Revenue and occupancy get a boost from

cross-selling and up-selling to existing loyal customers, attracting new customers and providing services through multi-channels making it easier for guests to purchase services. Differentiation occurs when you create customer loyalty by responding to customer needs and preferences in ways that enhance their lifetime value to you as an organization. Enhanced decision making helps top level management steer the company closer to its guest-centred vision.

However, because CRM spans the entire organization it is only as good as its weakest link and is susceptible to failure mainly due to lack of buy-in, planning, training and overall leadership. To help CRM succeed in your organization, you need to remember these four basic tips: 1.) Share the vision and train with rigor to ensure data integrity. CRM is an enterprise-wide commitment encompassing all elements of the organization. Key leaders need to unfailingly convey the overall corporate vision of how they expect CRM to help achieve goals. CRM should ultimately give staff more decision-making power, helping them to anticipate customer needs more quickly and accurately. Feeding accurate information to the CRM ultimately rides on the shoulders of hotel management and staff. If data entry is inconsistent or inaccurate, the value of the CRM plummets. Proper training is the key to successful implementation of CRM. Standardized input is essential and ongoing monitoring and training is important to ensure that data entry standards remain high. 2.) Plan on all levels to foster buy-in and get perspective. Get feedback from all parts of the organization on how they interact with guests now and how they could see themselves delivering better service in the future. Map out all guest touch-points and re-evaluate key processes in light of improving the guest experience. Your plan should be aligned with your overall business and marketing strategies and outline how your property will build customer loyalty. Prepare a complete business case including solid ROI estimates when deciding on the tools you will use to collect your data. Review your IT skill level and how your technology outlook is aligned with overall corporate goals. Ensure that you’ve amply budgeted for training and change management to ensure that technology and processes are adopted successfully. Purchasing CRM systems can be a big ticket item. If you don’t have the skills in-house to objectively evaluate the multitude of options available, hire a consultant to take on the process for you. Often an outside objective third-party who is

not tied to a specific technology can quickly shortlist the key vendors that match your needs and help you develop the solution that works best. Experts can question vendors in areas where your basic systems know-how may be limited, saving you time and money in the long run. Don’t bite off more than you can chew. Work back from your vision and define achievable steps for implementing your new system. Work on basic elements first, and when achieved successfully, move onto the next stage. 3.) Optimally use data to enhance ROI. The two most important ways to use your CRM data are to enhance the guest experience and to leverage marketing strategies. Enhancing the guest experience with CRM technology helps you know what guests want before they even walk through the front door. Know which are your most important customers and treat them like gold. Your staff should have the knowledge to offer the right service at the right time to the right guests. To leverage marketing strategies, CRM provides powerful customer segmentation, marketing, advertising and media analysis. Truly knowing who your customers are can help you pinpoint communications more accurately improving your marketing ROI. You may find that some guests are more inclined to respond to discounts, while others prefer extras like room upgrades or dinner packages. By effectively targeting the right offers to the right guests, your revenue increases. Guests are less annoyed because you are marketing offers they are interested in and in the way they want be communicated with. 4) Constantly measure and fine-tune your strategies. I can’t overstate the importance of tracking results consistently and actually using the information to facilitate better business decisions. Keep a thorough contact history for each customer by tracking when, how and what their response was for each communication. For example, you can gauge the success of campaigns by tracking separate 800 numbers to decide which customers responded to which offers and why. Measurements provide constant feedback to help modify the CRM strategy and monitor the customer experience. Whether you use advanced CRM technology or not, focusing your attention on your guests in ways they appreciate can only help improve your revenue and ultimately the bottom line. DON’T HOLD YOUR PRAISE

Continual praise is much easier to think about than to execute. Of course it is easy to praise God at the end of an experience, but while you go through…many of us

would rather pout than praise. The Word of God says we are to continually offer praise, not because we are so good at it but because God wants us to focus on him… all the time! Our lives are consumed to distractions, challenges, setbacks, and worry and those things keep us from embracing the peace we would otherwise have by knowing and confessing that God is in control working things out on our behalf. Praise mutes the noise of everyday life. The Word of God also says, “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excel-lent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” (Philippians 4:8) Praise, contrary to popular belief, is not just singing, or a particular tempo of music. Praise takes on many different forms; helping someone in need, prayer, choosing to forgive instead of holding a grudge, being happy for someone else’s gain, consistently and joyfully giving of your resources…So often we get embarrassed, or for whatever reason, choose to stifle praise, but remember that Luke 19 says, “…If they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.” In the moment we feel like shouting “why me, Lord?” instead, just whisper “Praise the Lord, he’s got this under control.” It doesn’t matter what you are up against, choos-ing to praise God instead of feeling rejected or insulted, could dra-matically change the outcome of your situation. God can see you everywhere. Would you rather have him see you stomping your feet and whining, or throwing your hands toward him with shouts of hallelujah? Confess that Jesus is Lord of all, and that includes your life too! Whatever the enemy uses to distract you, smother it with praise. Don’t hold your praise, supersize it and let it become who you are.

After a busy day, I was famished and walked into a restaurant to eat dinner; no thanks to my singleness. I was working on a project the day before, and forgot to eat dinner until it was too late --- my stomach is not use to going two nights without a

meal. On that day, no one needed to remind me to stop by the restaurant on my way home from the forum at which I gave a talk. Unfortunately the restaurant I chose was full, and after squeezing myself into a seat, I had to wait a little longer for my order to be taken. My mind was busy reflecting on my day; what I had said and what I forgot to say in my talk, when suddenly an argument brought me back to consciousness.

“Give me my change na!” a guy who looked respectable, dressed in a designer white shirt yelled at a waitress. “I dey come.” She replied calmly as she asked her colleague to bring the change and then stopped by my table to take my order. The dude got impatient and shouted, “Hey! No waste my time. Wetin dey do this mumu girl sef?” This time, the waitress replied in a manner not expected of her, or at least the guy wasn’t expecting that from her, “Oga I don send for the change abeg. Take am easy!” and immediately mumbled, “This oga too do sef,” as she turned to me and took my order.

Deep within me, I knew a scene was about to be created because the dude, though looking respectable, will not accept a response from a waitress in that manner. Forgive me for my unfairness in judgment. My opinion is based on his tone when he speaks to the waitress; the tone is chauvinistic - you know the type of man who thinks that women, especially waitresses should not talk to men that way. Another reason for my point of view is that his beautiful girlfriend sat beside him and from what I know about men; they tend to create a scene if they feel disrespected in the presence of their women. I feared for the waitress. .

It wasn’t a surprise when he stood up and said, “Na me you dey talk to like that abi? I no blame you, stupid girl! See her like monkey!” The waitress ignored him and continued her work. I believe her silence provoked him the more and he continued to denigrate her in many words. “See me see trouble o! All these Calabar girls no get respect sef. See this ugly thing o! You dey craze you hear!” The guy continued angrily.

I still couldn’t understand why the waitress held her tongue from replying even though it was obvious that she was fighting tears. Obviously some uneducated Calabar girls are more matured in controlling angry outbursts than some fine civilized dudes. I know a lot of women who would have preferred losing their jobs to give the dude a piece of their hearts rather than put up with such rudeness or insanity.

I pitied her and uttered words of comfort to her and held her hands, but I am not the regular kind of person who is obsessed with correcting people publicly while defending another. Even if I mustered energy to say something I was too hungry and tired for a fight. I faced my business squarely, and that was to eat. If anyone should have controlled the excesses of the dude that night, it was his girlfriend, but she wasn’t saying anything, why should I? I don’t understand how some girls sleep well at night after watching their men abuse innocent and helpless

women publicly and do nothing in defense of her gender or even calm the man. “Na dem sabi sha.” I soliloquized.

Meanwhile everyone in the restaurant, including me, pretended to be eating until the dude got his change, made for the door, and gave his deathblow. “Hey monkey, next time make you mind the way you dey talk to people like me you...” Before adding another adjective, the guy sitting next to my table was vexed and spoke up. “My guy shame no dey catch you? Leave this girl alone na.” As if everyone in the restaurant was waiting for a cue, they pounced on him in a manner of a rapist caught by a victim’s relatives. I ate my food quietly. Hey! Don’t consider me cruel. Cruel is what I call the “defender of the universe” who at this point were pouncing on the dude with equally unfair remarks. As usual, I also used the opportunity to study human behavior and response when hauled over the coals. I wanted to know if people will change when they are openly challenged by a mob and I

got my answer that night.

Did the jungle justice change this man? Negative. Before he left that place, he had upset more people and busted more bubbles. I had to snatch him away before they lynched him because he had made more people angry in the restaurant and the scene was degenerating into fisticuffs. Like every one of us when reprimanded, we tend to listen to the only person who seems to understand us, and I was that person for him that night. I wasn’t supportive of his act and indeed I condemned it. But I believe if a person should be rebuked, we should choose the style of Jesus when he said, “he who is without sin be the first to cast the stone” even though Jesus knew the woman to whom he spoke was in error.

I believe the dude that night should be rebuked, but with an angry man jungle justice rarely works. He may be forced to shut up, but will end up leaving with resentment and ready to do worse in the future. At the time of writing this article, he had called me twice and we’re getting along … and yes, he’s admitted to me his regrets when I tried to explain the danger of his act. Nice guy I must say – just had a bad side, which can be managed with kindness, not with a loud jungle rod of correction. I know the guy has a bad side and it is unfortunate, but who doesn’t? I am not a judge, but I know that by being nice to him he would definitely change.

Here is my point: Reprimanding a person in public, especially in the presence of their partner, would cause a violent response in the bid to protect their image. Does it stop there? No. He will offend more people and then the essence of correcting the person will not be achieved. Most people will not change or apologize when attacked like this. Would you? I don’t know much, but I know that no one likes to be rebuked like a baby – I don’t. On most occasions, we’re so wrapped up by our desires to correct and protect others that we equally become cruel to the angry person - like using violence to extinguish violence. It doesn’t work that way and that’s why most times we miss the opportunity to be the face of change; people become pigheaded when they could be changing.

Finally, although there are times when it is necessary to stop someone physically from hurting another person, more often than not it is helpful that we show love and understanding to those lost in anger, allowing them to discover their tenderness, everyone of us possesses that good quality. When someone loses his temper or does something objectionable, it's up to us to extend love to them, not a “holier than thou” attitude. Only then can we make adequate change to someone who is lost in anger or offensive behavior.

Many women have been deceived into believing the concept that men think

with “between their legs” or that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. Unfortunately, more women are frustrated because this concept doesn’t work. It may apply to attracting some men but rarely keeps them. Think for a second, if all you need to do is feed him with your body and food, then relationships and marriages should be the most peaceful places on earth. or better still whores will be better wives. With the recent divorce rate and the arrow of satisfaction pointing downwards in many marriages, sex and food alone do not make men happy in their relationships. Something else does. And this is what the following article attempt to offer. When next you decide to get serious with a man, look for the following points. The more you can manage this, the closer you are to enjoying the man. Please note that this article is not offering tips on controlling your man but to enjoying the totality of the man you have chosen to be with.

HIS JOBRight from genesis, men have been predictable by their jobs or what they spend their day doing. Hence show me a man’s job and I will tell you a little about how he relates with his woman. Men have always viewed relationships in term of their training or job. Trust, bonding or romance boils down to their choice of job. This should not be a surprise because men spend more time with their work (an average man spends 8-10 daily at his job, 6-8 hours sleeping and 4-6 hours with you). Sometimes they even carry the workload to the bedroom splitting your own time. The probability that your man will treat you as a client is close to 1. He does this by default and not deliberately. For instance, I am trained as a journalist, which means I ask questions for a living. Sometimes they may seem irrelevant to a woman but they mean a lot to me to establish trust and form a better conclusion. I want to know what happened in detail and the facts offered have to correlate. When they don’t match, I ask more questions. It’s not the issue of the absence of trust. In fact,

trust depends on truth, consistency and sincerity for journalists like me. Half truth, blocking or inconsistency means you are hiding something and this will destroy the relationship faster than you know. I advised that men remove their work suits at the door but it is very hard to achieve this 100% of the time. Attorneys and judges may show similar traits. If you understood that your man’s job is part of his life and he deals with your relationship SOMETIMES as his job, you will not hesitate to look closely at this point and chart a course for your relationship. A builder may have a yearning for planning, an accountant wants accountability, a doctor is quick to treat you etc. I am advising that you find how your man deals with you using his job as one of pointers because that’s a huge part of his life and he takes this with him even to the grave.

We take risks everyday though we refer to most of them as events of our lives. Driving

your car is a risky decision because you heard of someone who drove his SUV yesterday and perished in it. If you don’t have a car, walking is risky too. Did you see in the news how someone was killed while crossing the road? Investing your money in stocks, bonds, and real estate is risky, very risky. Those who have lost money on Wall Street and Main Street in the past year are better at telling this story. Women take risks to get pregnant and watch the babies grow; what if the children die at birth, or as infants? In everything we do, from waking up in the morning, drinking a coup of tea, going to work, and to sleeping at night, certain levels of risks are involved. Yet, these risks are taken because we believe they are part of living. Howbeit those who don't do these things are referred to as living corpse.

No matter the risk we take daily; serious or not, every one of us accommodate certain fears. The degree of those fears is determined by temperament, personality type, beliefs, and often childhood conditioning. For instance, I was raised in a decent family where risks are too risky, and for the love of life, we had to settle for what was available. A lot of us have limits set in place (by us or by family) to restrict us from stretching beyond boarders. I have made huge mistakes by taking some risks, but I am better for it. What you fear is stronger than you, and that means you are a slave to your fears until you decide to break loose. Little wonder those who are timid, afraid to stretch, rarely succeed.

Life is built on the foundation of venturing and contending. God, in the beginning, ventured to create this world amidst difficult challenges as it is written;

“…and the world was without formand void and darknesswas upon the face of the deep.And God Said let there be light…”

God wasn’t afraid of the darkness and the void he encountered while attempting to create this world – He ventured. If you care to add, He took the risk; you and I are the product of that risk. I dare say those who fear to take risks will always be at the mercy of those who do. Look through your window. I will tell you what you stand to see - the wide gap between those who are ready to take risks and the timid. Fear is the greatest unmaking of losers – the fear of “what if”. This alibi has kept me downtrodden for ages. The good news is that 92% of our fears will never happen.

Here is the result of a research:* Roughly 40% of what we fear/worry about will never happen* 30% of what we fear/worry about has already happened* 23% of our fear/worry is about unfounded things that are still assumptions* Totally, 92% of things that we fear/worry about will never on earth come to pass* Only 8% is possible to occur and if it happens, God has given us strength to handle it.Why then do you fear to venture?

The most prominent fear of this age is the fear to venture because of failed experiences in our past. This fear abounds in nearly every heart since we all have encountered one form of disappointment or another in our lives. I was a victim of many fears, but this fear’s huge and sadly, it spread to everything I do, eating me up like cancer. Many of us will dare stare the devil in the face or go into the proverbial Nigeria's evil forest (I don’t know if it really exists) but cannot risk falling in LOVE again. Possibly you keep asking, “Why should I fall in love when I stand the chance of heartbreak?” “Why travel through the rigors of that part when men are jerks and women are loose?” Why give someone my love when I am not sure if it’s not going to be trampled on?” Many and many more questions might ring in your head, but the truth remains that those who fear failure have failed already, because the hands of the timid attract failure.

I speak also to people who have packed up businesses and ideas because it didn’t work the first time. In the making of an incandescent lamp, Thomas Edison failed about 10,000 times and yet he said, “I didn’t fail 10, 000 time. I successfully eliminated 10,000 errors and combination that couldn’t work.” Success responds to persistence. Take the risk again and who knows, this could be the time that the tide will turn in your favor. Shalom.

I am a 2o year old woman in love with a man who is 19 years older than I am and he’s not married yet. He

wants me to marry him. Is it proper?

Age is the physical accumulation of numbers, which may have nothing to add to success and happiness

in marriage. Yet more than numbers, age could mean a lot to marriage because a baby will create more problems in the home than an adult. As to if it’s wrong to marry a man that is 19 years older than you, nothing is wrong if God doesn’t con-demn it. The answer is your conscience and your ability to handle situation at stake. You must take a closer look at the problems that could arise with such a wide age margin.

Nancy Van Pelt, an international therapist on love matters says 8-10 age difference needs closer look at the challenges they’ll encounter in marriage. For instance, physical activities and interests may differ because the younger person will wish to go out more and enjoy what an older person has outgrown or consider waste of time. It is also possible that attitudes and approach toward life will be different because a younger person’s perspec-tive about life might differ from an older person.

Another case to consider is that the person you’re in love with at 20 may not be the person you’re in love with at 25. Changing personality could also be your problem in the future. But if in the reality you are able to cope with the differences you can begin marriage negotiations. To make matters easier for you I have de-cided to compile a simple acid test to give you a clearer picture of the challenges this age bracket could bring.

The first is; do you really love this man as you’ve claimed? Think properly before you answer this question because your success in marriage needs this founda-tion. I must state that love is not a feeling to want to be with someone neither is it his generosity and kindness. It goes

deeper than this. It entails ability to stay with someone regardless differences and challenges. Ladies miss it a lot at this point. When a man gives you so much care and gifts, it doesn’t interpret love. It could be a lure.

If your answer after much reasoning is in the affirmative, please answer the next question with utmost sincerity. Can you handle a marriage with a man whose thought level is far beyond yours? Do you think you’d be compactable in many ways and in many years to come? He’d be living in the 60s while your youth-ful nature desires to live in this century. I must say this because the things that mean much to a 20years old lady could be waste of time to a 39years old man. In simple terms love to a 20years old lady is different from love to a 39years old man. At 20 a lady is filled with fantasy and she’s crazy for expression while a 39 years old man is facing reality. Also, you need at-tention more than ever at your age. Can your man be able to meet up with your demands? If perchance he can, will he be available most time because at 39, a man is working full speed to make it before he turns a fool at forty. Can you take the risk because you might have clashes of inter-est when you are married?

Here is another test: Can you freely look into his eyes and play with him like you’d do to someone slightly older without being scared? This is truly important be-cause we all need to marry a friend who we can relate with without reservation. After you’ve answered these questions and you’re still positive I have yet another question for you. Will he be willing to treat you as a wife not as a daughter? Remember that if he had married at 19 or impregnated a girl at that age, which was possible, you could be have been his daughter. To decipher if he’s got that trait observe the way he does your thinking for you, rule you and demand respect. If this man displays such traits now, you may be getting married to a father not a friend.

If you have answered these entire ques-tions and still see a need to go ahead with the marriage because you figure you’ll be happy with him, please try to concentrate on him and not what the world would say. A lot of people including your friends may think you’re crazy or something close to it. Please note that people’s opinion is as a result of their ignorance of your feel-ings and the treasures you’ve seen in your man. It cannot be relied on. But I want to assure you that love wins all battle even though it looks like first class insanity. Cheers. The bride wore a tiara mod-eled on the one Princess Diana wore for her wedding and a 27ft train. She was 23 and he was 44. Mottola controlled every aspect of Carey's life and career. The couple built a hideous house in Bed-ford hills, with 12bedrooms, a record-ing studio, ballroom, helicopter and two swimming pools. He restricted her movement and gave her bodyguards to achieve his aim.

Because a younger person wants to go out more and catch some fun, Mariah felt like a prisoner. She chafed against the restrictions and the couple divorced in 1998 after four years of marriage and 9 months of separation.

My personal opinion: Mariah and Mot-tola lived in different generations and the level of understanding is minimal though they have magnetic chemistry.

Believing in lies – sometimes it is obvious that

The Adventure of procrastination - Procrastination is the spirit responsible for telling you to wait a little more even when the time is ripe. It tells you reasons to delay getting married even though the reasons are so wrong, fantasizing and unrealistic. Statistics shows that ninety five percent of one hundred singles have all had one or more or even countless opportunities to have been married at one time or the other. These opportunities were

Standardizing the marriage market – You standardize by setting an unrealistic, frivolous standard for yourself that looks and sounds very childish in the ears of God .Nothing is wrong with setting standards but does it give glory to God ? so many singles pray , fast and profess that they really want to get married but they keep going in and out , near to materialize relationships. Most of the time they are even meant to believe that they have spiritual demonic problem where as in most cases it is their selfish standardization that has helped to keep them single.
