you with open arms and we feed you so that you feel as good as when you walk in your grandma’s house. We love our family
members and we encourage the growth of our family every semester. So hang on and don’t let go, and let HBSA add that spice of

SPRING 2012
Amanda Cheyney Alumna, Amanda Cheyney, was the guest speaker for our second general meeting on February 15, 2012. She visited us to share skillful information about scholarships, community service, studying abroad opportunities, and professional development. She also informed us about a great cause, FREE COMPUTERS for low-income families. More information later in this newsletter.
H&R Block visited us on February 22, 2012, and talked to us
about filing personal taxes as well as how to manage our own finances. Members engaged and clarified many of their questions. It was a helpful lecture and a good reminder that we should begin filing FAFSA very soon.

SPRING 2012
The Hispanic Business Student Association (HBSA) partnered with San Diego Broadband Initiative (SDBI) to distribute free and low
cost computers to local low-income families. Our goal is to
encourage technology usage in the household as a means to promote higher education to all family members. More information available at www.sdbroadband.org.
HBSA, Beta Gama Nu, and Alpha Pi Sigma united on February 11 at the event in Chula Vista to help set up and operate activities during this artistic event, hosted by SDSU students. Thanks everyone for your help!

Casa Hogar ‘La Gloria’à On February 25, HBSA partnered up with Alpha Pi Sigma and Nu Alpha Kappa to co-host a visit to a Tijuana orphanage. Numerous amounts of clothes and sanitary supplies were donated to the place and many smiles were painted on those kids’ faces. Their gratitude is the most rewarding memory from this event. Thanks everyone for your collaborations.

SPRING 2012
Ready, set, THINK GREEN! If there’s a time in spring where HBSA is full of excitement and spirit, Greenfest is one of them! Greenfest in fact, is one of the biggest and greenest events at San Diego State during the spring. Not to mention it’s not a one-day event but a WEEK-long event! This is a great opportunity for you to get involved and represent the spirit of HBSA! So WHAT IS GREENFEST? Greenfest is a festival celebrating sustainable awareness and Aztec Pride. HBSA and many other organizations participate in the festival through a competition where we create various projects. We are seeking for volunteers for the festival! If you are interested, contact your community service and/or promotions chairs.
