Elevator Speech

I will be graduating in May from the Healthcare Science program at Alvernia University. My

focus is in Advocacy, Literacy, and Navigation. I am a Spanish interpreter and translator and

culturally competent. Having the knowledge of the language and culture will help me to become

a mediator between the patient and the medical system. Culturally competent care will in turn

creates a sense of trust that will help to eliminate some of the barriers that exist between the

patient and provider. Therefore, my skills are giving me the opportunity to create a positive

impact on the environment and the community. I believe that accepting and respecting cultural

differences and by becoming sensitive to peoples’ feelings, I will provide patients with high

standard quality care.
