Tuesday 29th October 2019 Dear Families, Peter and the Wolf On Sunday November 24th, Bounds Green School is hosting two family-friendly performances of Peter and The Wolf, narrated by local actor Neil Morrissey and performed by professional musicians. There will be a delicious cafe open from 10:30am - come hungry and ready for a coffee! All proceeds are for Bounds Green dad Joe and his gorgeous children Finley (Year 6) and Flora (Year 3). They recently lost their much-loved mum Jen, and Finley has a form of muscular dystrophy; these concerts are being organised in order to raise money towards vital modifications to their home. We hope very much that you're able to join us for a fun-filled, community-spirited morning. Tickets will be sold every day from 30th October to 1st November inclusive, mornings from 8:30am outside in the playground. Please see the poster at the end of the newsletter! Nut-Free School Trips
As you are all aware we are a nut-free school, but please remember that this also applies to any school trips or special occasions that the children participate in. We have children throughout the school with nut allergies and even if the children are out on a trip and eating their lunch outside, we still have to be very
aware. Yr 2 Trip to the Thames River Cruise Before half term we went on a fantastic cruise along the River Thames from the London Eye to Tower Bridge and back again. We enjoyed seeing all the London Landmarks. Our favourite buildings were the curved Walky Talky Building, the stripes and curves of The Gherkin and The Shard. We liked sailing under the bridges, especially Tower Bridge. After the cruise we had a picnic near The London Eye and we played games and climbed the equipment in the playground before travelling back to school. It was a great day out! Jack, Leo R, Monet, Remi, Tyson and William in Green Park Class Wrap Up Warm for Winter With the weather getting colder, please make sure that children are dressed appropriately with winter coats, scarves, hats and gloves. It is also recommended that any children who cycle or scoot home wear high-visibility clothing as well, so that they can be seen easily when the evenings get darker. We would also recommend that children who walk home by themselves be extra careful while heading home on these dark evenings.

Spare Clothes If you have any spare clothes we would really appreciate donations to the school to be used for spare clothes. Ideally we would like junior boys trousers and underwear, but we will happy take anything available, many thanks. Individual Photo Day – 20.11.19 Please remember that it is Individual Photo day coming up on Wednesday 20th November. Children will have their photos taken throughout the day, along with any school siblings, but if you have a younger sibling that doesn’t attend the school but you would like them to have a sibling photo then please bring them in between 8:30am-9am to have their sibling photos done. Cake Sales Please see the dates below for full details of cake sales this year. We really appreciate all the amazing support with baking and selling, but couldn’t raise what we do without the faithful buyers and eaters! Congratulations to years 2 and 4 for their recent sale, featuring lots of fantastic bakes - you raised over £140! We’ll get the final figure into the next newsletter. If you have mislaid tins or Tupperware, they will be in the parents’ room next to the Nursery. Nearly New Sale/Local Business Fair, Saturday 9 November 10.30am-12.30pm If you’re thinking of having a clear-out of childrens’ and babies’ goods - toys, books, clothes, games, bikes, buggies - plus maternity wear, we still have spaces! £20 for private sellers, £10 for local businesses looking to advertise in person. Please contact us at [email protected] Flyers will be on display in the foyer from tomorrow: if you have any connection with local nurseries, playgroups or children’s classes, and would be able to help us distribute them, we would be most grateful – please let us know.

Meet the PTA, Wednesday 13 November 7.30-9pm Reminder: our Annual General Meeting is coming up soon! We’d love you to join us, meet parents, carers and staff, and hear all about last year’s events, sales and successes, plus what has been raised, and how funds have been spent. All this and refreshments! We’ll also talk about how you can get involved, whether you have an hour free at an event or fancy taking a post on the committee! Greetings Cards Keep an eye out for a sample card featuring your child’s design! These will be coming home over the next fortnight, and there will be an opportunity to order cards, bags for life, tea towels, gift tags and giftwrap based on the design. Every sale raises money for the PTA, meaning we can fund even more exciting resources and experiences for our children. Dates for your Diary Below are important dates of which you should be aware. Wherever there is a new addition, it will be printed in bold so that it stands out. In the case of Educational Visits, we aim to give as much notice as possible, however, please be mindful that occasionally last minute, educationally enriching opportunities arise which are considered too good an opportunity to pass up. Please look at this section of the newsletter every week as there are sometimes unavoidable changes to dates that you will need to take note of.
