HEALTH ANALYTICS 2015: MOVING TOWARD THE CONTINUUM OF CAREA FORWARD-LOOKING STUDY OF HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS’ PERCEPTIONS AND PLANS

While vendor products and options in the health analytics market are broad, a few key trends stand out to healthcare providers: a gap of healthcare expertise among BI vendors, increased complexity of data aggregation, and a heightened call for analytics solutions for the continuum of care (COC). This report highlights providers’ perceptions/consideration of vendors seen as capable in these areas.

Seeing Epic’s integrated system as a foundation, providers expect Epic to provide CoC analytics. Rising on the radar is Allscripts dbMotion, which providers see as capable and positioned for analytics and care transitions in the CoC. Cerner’s HealtheIntent platform is referenced for aggregating and reporting on all kinds of data. Others considered include Qlik and Health Catalyst products, often used together; Explorys and Truven—typically considered for population health and ACO-focused initiatives, respectively; and Oracle and IBM, often associated with big data.

When providers think of aggregating disparate data sources, they often turn to cross-industry giants. SAP holds strong provider mindshare thanks to a pervasive BI market presence. IBM is referenced often for BI and artificial intelligence. Oracle receives notable consideration because of their database technology and multiple analytics products. Though referenced less, Microsoft is thought of for their data platforms and ETL capabilities.
