Quality Essential Clinical Health Services In February 370 new Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) children with complications were treated in stabilization centres. In February, 12 health facilities are reported providing sexual and gender based violence (SGBV) services and 16 SGBV survivors received clinical management of rape (CMR) services. Improving Resilience- Mental Health Response: 706 beneficiaries received Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MPHSS) in conflict affected areas. Operational Presence of Partners

According to 5W data submitted during January and February 2020, 33 HRP partners reported data at least once.

During the year 2020 health cluster HRP partners covered 42 counties out of 79. There were 23 counties with single partner, 9 counties with 2 partners, 8 counties with 3 partners, and 2 counties with 4 partners present.

KEY CONTEXT UPDATE

Public Health Risks and Key Gaps

There were 400 alerts received during the weeks 6-9, 2020. Averagely 72% alerts were verified and responded back by week. Malaria, AWD and Bloody diarrhoea remain the top disease for alerts.

Rubella outbreak was confirmed in Leer and Yirol West counties where Rubella IgM was tested positive.

The RRT obtained 42 blood samples during the Yellow Fever (YF) investigations in Kajo-keji. The samples were tested PCR negative for YF and other arboviruses following testing at NPHL and UVRI. Serological testing at UVRI revealed two presumptive YF IgM positive samples. Confirmatory testing underway. WHO is supporting MoH to prepare an ICG request for a pre-emptive YF campaign in Kajo-keji.

Since week 7 of 2019, a total of 292 ILI/SARI samples have been collected and tested in UVRI 228 being negative; 6 (3%) positive for Influenza B (Victoria); 13(7%) positive for

Influenza A (H3); and 12(6%) positive for Influenza A (H1)pdm09 and (20) samples are pending test results.

Measles Outbreaks

In Year 2020 Measles outbreaks were confirmed in 5 counties (Tonj East, Magwi, Bor, Kapoeta East and Tonj South).

In response of new confirmed measles outbreaks mass campaigns were completed in Bor, Magwi, Tonj East, Kapoeta East, and Tonj South.

Situation update (as of 8 March 2020)

3,444 Cases are identified, out of which 3,310 are confirmed while 123 are probable. There are 2,264 Deaths [2170 confirmed & 94 probable]

Effected Zone

No new cases of Ebola virus disease have been reported since 17 February 2020, and on 3 March 2020, the only person confirmed to have EVD in the last 21 days was discharged from an Ebola Treatment Centre after recovering and testing negative twice for the virus.

COVID-19 PANDAMIC

Situation Update (as of 11 Mar, 2020)

Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak spread rapidly outside china in 113 countries/territories/areas throughout the globe. Wuhan district of Hubei province in China still remains epicenter of the most cases.

So far globally 118,326 cases are clinically confirmed affected by COVID-19 while 4,292 patients died.

Inside China 80,955 cases are confirmed out of which 3,162 died. There are 37,371 cases confirmed outside of China with 1,130 deaths.

COVID-19 Preparedness in South Sudan

No confirmed COVID-19 cases in South Sudan. Two alerts investigated in South Sudan all tested negative. COVID Taskforce constituted and convenes Mondays 2-4pm in the PHEOC. PHEOC activated to support COVID-19 preparedness activities. Baseline capacity and readiness assessment finalized to inform planning. Developed COVID-19 preparedness and response plan and is currently being updated to

suit the current context. Screening on going at Juba International Airport (screening protocol updated).

PARTNER IMPLEMENTATION KEY HIGHLIGHTS

MAGNA

MAGNA conducted a total of 1,715 OPD consultations out of which 346 were under-five years old. There were 669 malaria cases treated in total out of which 190 cases were treated with RTI. After screening 31 below five years old children were admitted under nutrition program. Health education awareness sessions were conducted for 534 beneficiaries on prevention of RTI, Malnutrition in children and hand washing in Duk Pagaak County of Jonglei State. Save the Children (SC) In Eastern Equatoria and Jonglei states SC centres that screen and treat children for malnutrition, providing them with nutritious food or medical care in severe cases. SC also support in building the capacity of the Ministry of Health to prevent and address malnutrition. In South Sudan Save the Children provided health services, in Abyei, Budi, Kapoeta East, and Kapoeta South counties. In the month of February 2020 SC conducted 5,265 outpatient consultations in Abyei region along with SGBV services. 2,850 uncomplicated diarrhoea cases were treated with ORS and Zinc in Budi, and Kepoeta East and Kepoeta South of Eastern Equatoria state. 4,530 uncomplicated malaria cases were also treated with ACT in Eastern Equatoria. They also treated 3.361 cases of uncomplicated respiratory infection (Pneumonia) with Amoxicillin.
