Canada 150 at TCS

We are so thankful that God has given us such a beautiful

land to live in, work in, and care for! This week we are

going to celebrate 150 years of God’s faithfulness to our

country.

Everyday: Meet around the flagpole at 8:20 to sing ‘O Canada’.

Wear Canada gear (optional).

Monday: Wear red and/or white (hats, t-shirts, etc.) Canada gear.

11:00 School photo

Tuesday: Fun Fair for Cancer (bring money for games and treats)

Wednesday: Road hockey at lunches (unconfirmed-listen for a Tuesday

announcement to confirm) – bring hockey sticks gr. 4-8

Thursday: Picnic at Turpin Park (bring an easy lunch, towel, hats, etc.)

Friday: Campfire songs at closing assembly; special treat

150 Acts of Kindness:

As Christian Canadians, community is important to us. Plan to do something that

gives back in kindness to your neighbourhood, city, or country. Once you have

done it, tell your teacher and a red ‘post-it’ note will be completed. With these

notes, we will form a Canadian flag to be hung in the school. Acts should be

significant and deliberately planned. (While helping a child on the playground is

kind, we are looking for something more.) Feel free to involve the whole family!

Examples: have a lemonade stand and raise money for a worthy cause, mow a neighbour’s lawn, walk someone’s

dog, make soup for a sick person, bring food to a food bank, visit a lonely person, sweep someone’s driveway, pick

up litter on your street, invite a neighbour to Church with you, make a card for a sick person, donate used clothing

to a shelter, give away a toy you no longer use to someone who doesn’t have many toys, etc. Be creative!

Special activities will also be done in individual classes.

FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK

We did it! We made it through another school year! What a year it has been. God is such a gracious and loving God. May all we have done been glorifying to Him. And when we messed up and humbly turned to him for forgiveness, been forgiven. So often I need to remember what he did for me so that I can do so to others.

Ms. Chris, our crossing guard informed me that she will be retiring at the end of the week. Please thank her for her care for our children crossing the road morning and evening. It has been a joy getting to know her over the past many years. Continue to pray for her and her husband, that God will continue to water the seeds of Christ’s love we have shown over the years.

We have a fun filled week ahead celebrating Canada’s 150th birthday. On Friday you should have received an email telling about all the fun things planned for the week. Don’t forget money for the fun fair tomorrow put on by grade 5/6 class.

Graduation takes place Wednesday evening at 7 pm at Covenant Reformed Church. All are welcome to congratulate this group of students as they move on to high school. Report cards are coming home on Friday.

Have a blessed summer and may we meet again in September. Stay safe…enjoy the break! I’d like to finish this year with a blessing from Numbers 6:22-24 “The Lord bless you and

keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.”

Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall,

because it had its foundation on the rock.” Matthew 7: 24, 25

It has been such a joy and blessing to

share this school year with such a special

group of students! Each one has unique

gifts and talents that bring to the class

summer. You are dearly loved. ~Mrs, Scott

Mrs. Hudson:

Endings and Beginnings: Can you believe it is already the last week of

June?! This year has gone so fast. I can’t believe it’s time to say good-

bye for the summer. Parents, thank you for the incredible support and

trust you placed in us and for the way you are raising your children to serve the Lord. I have thanked Him so often for the privilege of spending

my days with them for the last two years. As the holiday begins, I pray

you may all have a restful and joy-filled summer!

Party: On our last day, we will have a small party, but we have yet to

discuss what that will look like. Stay tuned for more details.

What’s coming up? Fri., June 23: Last day; Report cards go home

Wed., June 21: Explore gears

MISS CHIANG – GRADE 1 Well we have made it. The last week of school! This is always a bitter-sweet week as we wrap up our year together. Thank you to

everyone for making this year a great success! I hope that you all have a great summer.

This week we will be collecting our work and bringing home all of our things. It would be helpful to have a plastic bag available in their

backpacks each day this week. We may or may not use them every day, but it would be good to have.

In celebration of summer, this Wednesday is Camp Day for our class. Students are welcome to bring in a sleeping bag or a blanket.

Students are also invited to bring in a plain white t-shirt. We will be decorating shirts using fabric crayons. Please bring in a blank t-

shirt if you wish to have your picture ironed on. If not, drawings will be sent home with instructions so that you can iron them on when

a shirt becomes available.

Report cards will be going home Friday. Please check your child’s agenda/backpack for it.

This week, we are also celebrating Canada’s 150th Birthday. Please check the front of the newsreel for specific details. Important

things to remember is to complete random acts of kindness. Our goal is to complete 150 acts of kindness for our community. Also, we

will be having a picnic lunch on Thursday as a school. Please make sure to pack a lunch that students can eat at the park.

Please pray this is an exciting week for students as we wrap up the year. Please also pray that students are able to maintain self-

control for those few little items we need to finish off.

MRS. GROOT & MRS. PERERA – JR./SR. KINDERGARTEN Celebrating God’s Gift of Colour: Last Wednesday our two classes each did a separate colour project. Check out the

collaborative circle paintings in the hallway and the awesome colourful butterflies in the JK/SK room. At the end of the day we

celebrated God’s amazing array of colours with a swirly popsicle. Yum, yum!

TOY WASHING: Please. parents, we need your help to wash the toys the children played with all year. If you take a few it

makes our final class clean up so much less work. Come before or after school or email us ([email protected] or

[email protected]). The toys can be returned any day this week.

**Remember to keep track of your time for your volunteer hours.**

Happy birthday to Evelyn who turns five at the end of the summer holidays. We celebrated with her today. God bless you with

an awesome year being five, Evelyn.

The countdown begins…..We are counting down the last five days of school. Each day we pop a balloon with a message inside

that tells us what fun year end activity we will do together.

Beautiful Work: Coming home either Wednesday or Friday (whenever we get done our clean-up) will be all the awesome work

from this past term. Enjoy and celebrate with your child; you might even want to frame some of that spectacular art.

REPORT CARDS come home with your child on Friday.

Dear Parents,

God blessed us with an amazing year. We enjoyed teaching your children; they are a delightful group who are blessed with

many talents. The children have learned so much and made great progress...we are impressed. Thank you for your support

and prayers. To you and your family we wish you God’s abundant grace and blessings. May this summer be awesome! We

look forward to hearing about all your adventures in September. To those who are moving on, we wish you God’s grace and

peace.

To God Be the Glory!

Love, Mrs. Perera, Mrs. Porter and Mrs. Groot
