Mexico welcomed more than 1 million foreign patients during 2012, many of whom were from California, Texas, Arizona, New York, Illinois among other states. It also received patients from Canada and other countries.

Mexico: A Country of Specialists

The ratio of specialists to general practitioners in Mexico is 63.4% −above average for OECD countries (57.7%).

In 2011, there were around 72,000 people working as medical staff and about 86,000 as non-medical employees (treatment assistants, paramedics and administrative personnel) in private establishments.

According to estimates, the US population in 2012 reached 313.9 million people, of which approximately 23.7% are under 18 and 13.3% are 65 and over. It is interesting to note that 16.7% of the population is of Latin origin.
