Motivation is the ability to take control on your mind and toturn problems and difficulties into solutions and energy tosuccessfully achieve your goals.

What is motivation?
Two forms of motivation can be considered:
1. “Internal motivation” is grounded on drives that comesfrom inside a person and is not motivated by externalrewards
2. “External motivation” is fed by external rewards (e.g.,compliments, competition, fitting into a slim-fit dress,esthetical reasons)

What does motivate you?
Belonging to one or the other type of motivation (internal or
external) can make a huge difference. On the long term, only
internal motivation will lead you to life-changing
improvements. External rewards might get you started, but
long-term motivation depends on your values and internal
triggers for achieving goals. Internal motivation involves
emphasizing current success and happiness instead of ideas
about future positive outcomes.

What does motivate you?
• Lack of clear directions - If you are not clear about what you have todo, it is difficult to keep your motivation. You need to be clear in eachstep you take having an everyday strategy to achieve your goals. A lackof direction extinguishes motivation, without a clear “what’s next”action procrastination kicks in
• Fear of failure - if you have been unsuccessful in achieving your goalsin the past, you have a negative reference that stops you from tryingagain
• Fear of what others might say - getting out of your comfort zone andstart doing things differently might have an impact on peoplesurrounding you and you might have the feeling to be judged

Why do you lose motivation?
• Lack of self-confidence - When you doubt about the likelihood of success you jeopardize you confidence and you lose motivation
• Lack of focus - It is easy to get out of track when starting to implement new habits. Especially during the first few weeks, your autopilot tends to push you back in your old and undesired habits. You need to keep reviewing your goals to bring back the focus on your new priorities.

Why do you lose motivation?
When your motivation starts decreasing, you can regain directions byimplementing a strategy that will boost your motivation.
Define two positive actions:
1. A small task you have been wanting to do for sometime and alwayspostponed
2. A long term goal
Take action to start and complete the small task. This will create a positivereference that will enhance your sense of satisfaction and achievement.After having entered in the positive state, take the first step towardsachieving the long-term goal. By doing this regularly, you will create a numberof positive reinforcements and you will keep moving forward.

What can you do? (Exercise)
You find difficult to stick to the theory and follow your plans
You started very compliant with exploding motivation,energy and enthusiasm and now you have lost interest andyour inner strengths are not pushing you any further
You need encouragements and drive for your big dreams,and also for the performance of minor daily tasks
