Texas Mission of Mercy

Marvin Day at Bethesda

David Nichols to be honored In 2004, Bethesda Clinic

created The

Doctor Luke

Society to

honor physi-

cians who

demonstrate

a loving and

caring spirit

that reaches

out to those

in our community who

cannot afford adequate

medical care. Honorees

are chosen because they

reflect the characteristics

of Luke who was re-

ferred to by the Apostle

Paul, in Colossians 4:14,

as the "beloved physi-

cian." Luke's writings

reflect his commitment

to respect all people, his

concern for the poor

and his hope for God's

mercy and forgiveness

for all.

On Feb. 5, Dr. David

Nichols will be inducted

into this honored group

of physicians. Past Marvin

honorees include Dr.

Patrick Thomas, Dr.

Duane Andrews and Dr.

Bits and pieces

Communion offering

Our February Communion 0ffering will go to UMCOR for the disaster in Haiti. On

Jan. 12, a 7.0 earthquake devastated this third-world country. Your donation

should be marked “Haiti” or “UMCOR.” Thank you, mission hearts!

Military Care letter

My name is Olivia Santos and I’m currently deployed onboard the USS Nimitz. I’m

one of the luckiest people to receive your care package and greetings. We appreci-

ate all the efforts and support that you are providing to our fellow military mem-

bers. Thank you very much.

Empty Bowls

The Missions Team of Marvin United Methodist Church will sponsor their seventh

annual hunger awareness event called Empty Bowls at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 17.

This event which raises funds for local hunger relief efforts will feature a ticketed

dinner event (served in bowls, of course!) with a lot of inspiration and an auction

you won’t want to miss! Tickets will go on sale March 21.
