MISSION
What
is t
he N
eed?
Nationwide: • Each year, well over 100
billion pounds of food are
thrown away in this country.
• Some estimates indicate that
up to 40 percent of America’s
entire food supply goes to
waste.
Meanwhile, in Heartside:
• Approximately 80% of the
population is food insecure;
• And, 45% of the population
lives below the poverty line
with 76.1% of 18-64 year olds
living in poverty.USDA
