HEAT EXCHANGER
-
Heat Exchanger is a device built for efficient Heat transfer.Heat transfer is the transition of thermal energy from a heated item to a cooler item and vice versa from one medium to another , whether medium separated by solid wall so that they never mix, or the media are in direct contact.
-
Heat exchangers classified according to their flow arrangement . 1.Paralell flow : Two fluids enter the exchanger at the same end, and travel parallel to one another to the other side 2. Counter flow: Two fluids enter the exchanger from opposite ends. The counter current design is most efficient, in that it can transfer the most heat Fluids: Anything which have the tendency to flow (liquid / gases).

Types of Heat Exchangers used in OCPLShell & tube Heat ExchangerPlate Heat Exchanger
-
Shell & Tube Heat ExchangerShell and tube heat exchangers consist of a series of tubes. One fluid enters the tube and other passing in between tubes or vice versa.
-
Shell & tube Heat exchanger(1-1 parallel flow)
-
Shell & tube Heat Exchanger( 1-2 cross flow)
-
Shell & tube Heat exchanger(2-2 countercurrent )
-
Plate Heat ExchangerPlate Heat Exchanger is composed of multiple, thin, slightly-separated plates that have very large surface areas and fluid flow passages for heat transfer. This stacked-plate arrangement can be more effective, in a given space, than the shell and tube heat exchanger (occupy lesser space)
