first 400 KV GRID SUBSTATION of Rajasthan that was established on December 1986.Rajasthan’s only oil testing laboratory

WHAT IS SUBSTATION ????

Where voltages are stepped up and stepped down

Assemblage of electrical components including bus bars, switchgear, power transformers, auxiliaries etc.

=1065MVA(total capacity).Tertiary winding for power supply.

INSTRUMENT TRANSFORMERused in electrical power system for

stepping down currents and voltages of the system for metering and protection purpose

These instruments transformers are of two types :

a) Current transformer b) Potential transformer

Capacitive voltage transformer are used instead of conventional two winding PT

combination of capacitors and inductors act as filter which is used to catch only communication  signals and leave the power waves towards load.

CURRENT TRANSFORMER Instrument transformer

used to measure currents of high magnitude.

Secondary current is proportional to primary current

Current ratio 1000:5

WAVE TRAP trap the high frequency

communication signals sent on the line from the remote substation and diverting them to the telecom panel in the substation control room.

The Line trap offers high impedance to the high frequency communication signals thus obstructs the flow of these signals in to the substation bus bars.

This training helped me a lot to understand many practical concepts and helped me to
