Adapted f rom a 15 year o ld pat tern f or a t ablecloth (Cro chet Monthly, No 125, p18, Clo th Art by ColetteBeiline).

Created us ing just under 300g of Louisa Harding Impressio n Yarn, 84% nylon, 16% mohair, with a 5.50mmhook.

I prefer to use a diagram - but have att empted to put thediagram into words below.

Yarn: Louisa Harding Impression

Hook: 5.50mm

Gauge: Diff icult t o judge because t he yarn and pattern'st retches', but roughly rounds 1 - 3 should produce amotif 4 inches in diameter.

Round 1. Make a loop with t he end of the yarn. Slipstitchinto t he loo p, 3ch and then 19 tr into the loop. Sl st to the3rd of the 3ch to close round.

Round 2. 3ch (counts as f irst t r throughout), *3ch miss1tr, 1tr into top of nxt tr*, repeat * to * to end, 3ch, sl stinto 3rd of the 3ch to close round.

Round 3. 3ch, 1tr into same place, *2ch, 2tr into to p of nxt tr*, repeat * to * to end, 2ch, sl st into 3rd of the 3chto close round.

Round 4. 3ch, 1 tr into same place, 2t r into nxt t r, *2ch, 2tr into each of nxt 2tr*, repeat * to * to end, 2ch, sl st into3rd of the 3ch to close round.

Round 5. 3ch, 1 tr into same place, 1tr into each of nxt2tr, 2tr into next t r, *2ch, 2tr into nxt tr, 1tr into each of nxt2tr, 2tr into next t r*, repeat * to * to end, 3ch, sl st into 3rd

Round 17. sl s t along chain until you reach the centre of the f irst loo p, 1ch, 1dc into loo p, *5ch, 1dc into top of nxtloop*, repeat * to * to end, sl st into f irst dc to closeround.

Adjust size

Check f it across back using a T-shirt o r ot her item of clothing that provides the f it you want - you should nowbe at t he point where the circle covers your back.

Adjust size by repeat ing round 17 as needed.

Recommended sizings:

Small - do no t repeat ro und 17

Medium - repeat round 17 once

Large - repeat round 17 twice

Extra- large - repeat ro und 17 three times

Round 18. sl st into f irst loop, 3ch, 3tr into loop, *4tr into nxt loop*, repeat * to * to end, sl st into to p of 3tr to close round.

Arm-holes

Check f it across back using a T-shirt o r ot her item of clothing that provides the f it you want. Calculate theplacing of the armholes - usually f rom one o'clock to t wo thirty, and f rom 11 o'clock to t en thirty.

Count how many groups of f our trebles you need to span to create the armholes.

Using a new piece of yarn, attach yarn at the point where you want the armhole to st art (at tach at a pointbetween two groups o f f our t reble using a slipstitch) - 4 chain f or each four treble group that you need tospan. Slipstitch to rejoin the yarn to the circle at the point where you want the armhole to f inish and tie of f the yarn. Repeat f or the second armhole.

You s hould now have a circle with two added loo ps o f chain where you want the armholes t o be:

When you st art t he next ro und (round 19) you will crochet ro und the circlethen across t he chain loo ps you added, which creates t wo s lits in the circlef or t he armholes:

Round 19. 1ch and 1dc into same place (this is the point where you f inished round 18), *5ch, 1dc into gapbetween group o f 4tr*, repeat * to * until the point where you reach your armhole, f or each missed group of

f our t reble, create one loop of 5ch and 1dc using the row of chain stit ch you att ached to create thearmhole, then rejoin with a dc into the point where you re- att ached the row of chain to the circle andcontinue around the circle creating loops of 5ch and 1dc, repeat when you reach the second armhole.

At t he end o f row 19 you should have 60 lo ops - count them - t his is import ant!! (if you went wrongso mewhere and can't spot where, then you can add extra loo ps t o t he armhole area without anyonenoticing!!)

Pineapples - I recommend using the original pattern (below) rather than my instructions!!

Round 20. sl st along chain to middle of loop. 1ch 1dc into loop, **9tr into next loop, 1dc into next loop,*5ch, 1dc into next loop*, repeat * to * two more times**, repeat * to * to end and join with a s l st - thisshould create 12 pineapple bases of 9tr, each separated by 3 loops.

Round 21. sl st to to p of f irst t r, 4ch, tr, *1ch, 1tr*, repeat * to * 7 more t imes, 1ch, 1dc into loop, 3ch, [2tr 2ch 2tr] into next loop, 3ch, dc into next loop, 1ch, **1tr into f irst tr o f 9tr group, *1ch, 1tr*, repeat * to * 7more times, 1ch, 1dc into loop, 3ch, [2tr 2ch 2tr] into next loop, 3ch, dc into next loop, 1ch**, repeat ** to **to end finishing with a sl s t t o close the round.
