Chain BlockSew an Embroidered Hexies 21/2" strip to the top of a Cadet Solid 41/2" strip. Sew an I Heart Kitties 21/2" strip to the bottom of a the Cadet Solid 41/2" strip to create a white/blue/white strip set. Repeat to create 2 white/blue/white strip sets. Cut the strip sets into 13 segments 41/2" x 81/2". Label as Segment A.

Sew a Cadet Solid 21/2" strip to the top and bottom of the Criss-Cross 41/2" strip to create a blue/white/blue strip set. Cut the strip set into 13 segments 21/2" x 81/2". Label as Segment B.

Sew a Cadet Solid 21/2" strip to the top and bottom of the Flutter 41/2" strip to create a blue/white/blue strip set. Cut the strip set into 13 segments 21/2" x 81/2". Label as Segment C.

Sew segments A, B, and C together as shown below to create the Chain Block. Repeat to make 13 Chain Blocks.

Bird BlockThese instructions are to make 1 block. You will need to make 12 blocks. Refer to block diagram on page 5 for piece placement. Draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of the I square. Place in the top right corner of the N square and sew on directly on the line. Trim ¼" away from the seam. Flip the corner back and press.

Sew the O rectangle to the top of the I/N unit. This is the beak unit.

Repeat this process with the B rectangle, V square and Q square. This is the head unit.

Repeat with the E square and T rectangle. This is the upper tail unit.

Repeat with the C rectangle and U square. This is the breast unit.

Repeat with the G rectangle, F square and D square. This is the wing unit.

Repeat with the A rectangle and the S square. This is the lower tail unit.

Sew one H rectangle to both sides of the P rectangle and press towards P.

Sew the K rectangle to the left side of the H/P/H unit and an M rectangle to the right side. Press towards K and M. This is the legs unit.

Sew the beak, head and upper tail units together. Press the seams open.

Sew the L rectangle, breast, wing and lower tail units together. Press the seams open.

Sew the top and bottom units together and add the R rectangle to the right side. Press the seams open.

Next sew the J rectangle to the top and the leg unit to the bottom to complete the Bird Block. Repeat to make 12 Bird Blocks.

Quilt Center AssemblyRefer to the quilt diagram on page 5 for block and row placement.

Sew 3 Chain Blocks and 2 Bird Blocks together to create Row A. Repeat to make 3 Row A.

Sew 3 Bird Blocks together to create Row B. Repeat to make 2 Row B.

Sew the A and B rows together to complete the quilt center.

Finish quilt by layering the quilt top, batting, and back. Bind with the Riley Aqua Stripe strips. Have fun with your colors and enjoy the journey of making your quilt.
