Hello fellow NENA Conference Attendees,
The NENA Conference Committee has a superb weekend planned for you in Philadelphia at Temple University.
Attached to this email is a file that includes the Program at a Glance with a detailed timeline of activities. Also, you
will find the Agenda for Sunday mornings NENA Federation meeting and the minutes from the last NENA meeting
held in NYC.
As part of the conference, The American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI) wants hear from each of us
in order for them to best serve the needs of hospitality educators through textbooks and supplemental resources. They
want to know how you select titles, your preferred content delivery methods, the supplements that work best with your
students, and more. AHLEI will have scheduled two Focus Group sessions; we encourage you to attend ONE of the
sessions:
❖ Friday, March 31, 5:00-6:00 p.m. “What Can We Do For You—We Want to Know”
Loews Philadelphia Hotel, PSFS Room/33rd Floor (just before the opening reception)
❖ Sunday, April 2, 8:15-9:15 a.m. “Educating for the Future—How Do We Get There from Here”
Loews Philadelphia Hotel, PSFS Room/33rd Floor (just before the Legacy Lecture)
You do not need to RSVP to attend a specific Focus Group, please simply plan to attend at least one focus group session.
According to the Weather Channel, Philly will be experiencing 60-degree weather all weekend, with a possibility of
rain showers on Sunday. So, dress to enjoy the spring weather. Please see the next few pages for additional detailed
information regarding the entire weekend. However, please pay special attention if you are planning to participate in
the Friday tours attire is business casual for the tours; however, do not wear jeans as the Union League has a slightly
more formal dress-code compared to Sysco & Aramark. Please also make sure to have your ID with you, as you
will need it for the tours.
Finally, if you are interested in signing up for one of the planned dinners, there is still availability to join the group
going to Sampan. Please email me at ([email protected]) or text (610-737-9253). There are 5 seats
remaining at the table. Will accept reservations on a first come basis. The group reservations to Amada and Zahav are
full.
See you in Philly to “Pursue Your Educational Happiness”.
In hospitality,
David F. Schweiger
