People of Joburg
On the coverCliffCentral is the location for our January photo shoot. Gareth Cliff takes to the studio and talks to Hello Joburg.
We head back up Juta street and I-spied-with-my-smokey-eye the pinkest tie this side of Joziburg: Donald Fick.
Your age? 31
Profession?A doctor… a G.P.
And where do you practice?Melville
So what are you doing in Braamies today?Having lunch, grabbing a coffee, punching in the practice’s numbers.(I would’ve offered my abacus but he beat me to the punch by pointing to his calculator.)
What is it about Johannesburg that you dig so much? The city, suburbs…?I love the cityscapes and exploring the gems of the city. I’ve never been to the Kruger; I’m not a nature kinda guy.
What do you recommend everyone does in Jozi over weekend?Neighbourgoods Market and Father Coffee in Braamfontein. I’d like to try the Smokehouse this weekend - hear it’s quite the treat.

Happy New Year Joburgers!
As always we welcome all tourists to Joburg and welcome back those Joburgers who took a well deserved holiday. We look forward
to continue bringing you all relevant, up-to-date and exciting news about our city in 2015.We kick start the year with a bang, interviewing
the man behind CliffCentral. The infamous and always charismatic Joburg personality, Gareth Cliff, admits that when
CliffCentral launched in May 2014, he didn’t anticipate just how big it would become in the past nine months and is looking forward to grow and consolidate this media platform in 2015.
If you’re still in the holiday spirit head down to Parkhurst’s 4th Avenue, where you will find the legendary Cape Town burger joint, Hudsons. It opened in Joburg in December and has been a popular addition to the Avenue. Grab an ‘11 Shillings Ale’, a plate of triple cheese chili poppers and watch the pavement traffic pass you by.
However, if you’re wanting to start your new year’s resolutions with healthy eating, we recommend banting- and paleo-friendly restaurants around Joburg, as give you salad and cupcake recipes to try out at home.
Although Gareth won’t be making any new year’s resolutions (he doesn’t believe in those), we would like to know what you, our readers, have resolved to do this year. Tweet us your new year’s resolution and the most extra-ordinary one will receive a pair of tickets for Joburg’s City Sightseeing bus tour. The winner will be announced in our February issue.
Enjoy!
