Help Health Philippines is the initiative of the Dutch-GermanImmigrant Horst Heveling and his wife Flora. The domicile is inCalapan City, the provincial capital of Oriental Mindoro, in the islandMindoro.The idea began in late 2008, after Horst saw the poor conditions ata fundraiser. Since then, the Help Health Team has grown, and thesuccesses are increasing. Motivated by that, in early 2011 it wasdecided to register the Help Health Foundation in the US becausethis is much less complicated than in the Philippines. Since March

2011 the Help Health Foundation is allowed to lead the symbol " ",which confirms a higher legal status in the U.S. Currently there is afund-raising running to get the money for full registration. Theinitiative Help Health Philippines will remain under this name and isnow running under the Help Health Foundation . In July 2011 itwas decided to register the "Help Health Deutschland" association

in Germany.The two communities of San Teodoro and Baco both in OrientalMindoro have been chosen as a test run. If we manage to bringthe local health system and the education system up to a better runthan it is now, we are looking forward to expanding it to othercommunities even beyond the Philippines. In our Concept, youcan learn more about what we do.

Our concept

1. Support of the Communal Health Centers

The Philippines have local health centers in each small town. Thegovernment strategically places them in areas with no hospitalsnearby. They serve as a mini-hospital to those in need of medications for minor illnesses like cough and colds. They alsoprovide a venue for the government to give regular vaccinations forchildren against measles, polio, hepatitis, etc. However, not enoughfunds are readily available to supply these health centers withemergency medical equipment and medication to arrest theworsening of critical illnesses like diarrhea and pneumonia in

children. There is even a shortage of medical personnel able toattend to kids having the seasonal flu. Thus, a simple case of coldscan turn fatal in a matter of hours simply because of the lack of proper medical care. Help-Health wants to assist these healthcenters secure a better set of medical equipment and an evenwider array of medication.

2. Financing of small Surgeries

These health centers do not have thetechnology to perform complicated surgeries.They often have to refer poor patients tomajor hospitals in the city. Now the problemcomes when these families do not even havethe penny to get to the city. How much more

pay for a surgery? Again, we, at Help-Healthtry to help the most critical cases as much aswe can.

3 . Clothes, pens, paper, slippers, etc.

Just like most non-profit organizations, weappreciate ANY amount of help we can getthese little ones for home or school. Any formof assistance is greatly appreciated. The joy intheir faces is simply priceless .
