Youth enrolled in South Street Ministries’ programs earn points for attendance, good

behavior, completing homework, etc. The points will be converted to South Street dollars for them to buy Christmas gifts for their family.

South Street Ministries, founded in 1997 by Duane and Lisa Crabbs, is located at 798 Grant Street. It provides programs for the poorer residents of South Akron

and Summit Lake. The major programs of South Street include after-school tutoring, summer youth camp, urban gardening,

bike shop, and youth sports scholarships. South Street also provides pastoral counseling,

emergency food and shelter assistance, and employment training.
