Helpful Tips in Choosing Opera Glasses

How to Choose Opera Glasses?

Opera glasses are a great way to enjoy watching indoor performances even without availing

costly front seat tickets. With their magnification, looking through these binoculars, the viewer

can see details of facial expressions, gestures, and stage settings even while being seated at the

back. But there are a few considerations in choosing what binoculars to buy.

One of these things includes the style and color of the theater binoculars to purchase. Since opera

glasses can be found in wide range of designs and colors, it will be important to choose the one

that will fit in not only with the theatrical settings but also with the type of outfits intended to

wear for this type of pleasure. Like during early times, these binoculars are also often used as

fashion statements of some theater lovers. If you would like to be ‘safe’, classical colors are best

options since they can fit in almost everything and hardly go out of style.

Magnification of Opera Glasses: Get The Right Level!

The most important feature to look in opera binoculars is the magnification of the opera

glasses. Magnification of these types of binoculars may vary from 3X to 5X. The most

recommended are those with magnification of 3X. Lower magnification may not be sufficient to

get a clear view about the stage performances. On the other hand, a 5X magnification may

become too great for the wide view of the stage. There are opera binoculars that have fixed

magnification and there are those that can be adjusted.

Objective lenses should also be considered as they affect how the viewer can easily see things

through opera glasses. They should be about 21 to 25 mm enough to capture ample amount of

light for viewing in lower light conditions and yet can still be found to be handy. In addition,

some opera glasses, especially the cheaper ones, do not have center focus. This should also be

considered if you are after the binoculars’ sharpness and fineness of images.

Accessorize Your Opera Glasses

A handle or chain is an essential part of opera glasses as it provides the easiness of handling the

binoculars while enjoying the acts. A chain will be beneficial for those who are forgetful or

careless, to avoid misplacing these pair of glasses. If it’s intended to be used during the entire

performance, a handle must be considered. As they are expandable, handles can let the viewers

rest their muscles on the arm chair but can still view through these lenses. Whatever color or type

chosen, what really matters is that the viewer gets to enjoy the performance looking through

these opera glasses.
