• Henry Ford was born in Greensfield Township, Michigan in 1863.• He died in Fair Lane, Michigan in 1947.

Childhood and Education• He organized other boys to build water wheels and steam engines.• Learned more about steam engines by a man who ran them.• Taught himself to fix watches, he used the watches to learn machine

design.• Demonstrated mechanical ability, a facility for leadership, and a

performance for learning by trail-and-error.• Inspired by his mother, who encouraged his interest in tinkering.• From 1884 to 1885 he attended business college.
