RedlandsUndercover
Here in the Redlands we enjoy sunshine almost
all year round, so please try and minimise your
exposure to direct and reflected sunlight when out
in the sun.
The Queensland Cancer Council suggests that while outdoors we should:
wear a legionnaire or broad •brimmed hat wear sun protective clothing •(e.g. collared shirts, etc) and use appropriate sun protection apply a SPF30 sunscreen •where possible, •minimise outdoor play in the middle of the dayencourage children to play •in shaded areaseducate children about sun safety.•
Further information on being sun smart is available online via Queensland Heath: www.health.qld.gov.au/sunsafety/ Council is progressively upgrading its sun-safe parks, so please check the Redlands website for updated information: www.redland.qld.gov.au. For further information, or to make a park booking, phone Council’s Parks and Conservation branch on

An increasing number of Redland
City parks are now more comfortable
and sun-safe, making them a great
place to meet up with friends,
plan a picnic, have playtime with
a parents group, or entertain the
children in the great outdoors.
Ongoing improvements at Council
parks include:
increased shade cover over •
playground areas
increased tree planting (for future shade) •
upgraded playground areas, including new •
furniture/equipment and water bubblers.
Council is proud to deliver sun-safe parks
to Redland residents as part of the Shade
in Parks project.
