OUR LENTEN JOURNEY 2020

Lenten greetings my brothers and sisters in Christ!

Our Lenten journey continues throughout the month of March. I encourage you to attend our ecumenical Wednesday night Soup & Substance Services starting on Wednesday March 4th. Soup at 6 pm and Substance (worship) 6:45 pm. This is a slight change from previous years. Our worship time will start 15 minutes earlier. See the schedule of locations of churches and dates in this newsletter. Faith UMC will host on Wednesday March 11th this year. Thanks to all who help to prepare and serve these meals that allow us a time of fellowship and support during the Lenten season.

Lent also calls us to a time of preparation, self-denial, searching our inner-self, confessing of our sins, repenting of our sins, fasting and spending time in the Word of God. Many people ask, “What are you giving up for Lent?” or I might suggest; “What are you giving to God for Lent?” That is a very personal decision that we make that fits our life and health situations. Not everyone gives something up for Lent, but some try and some fast. I look forward to walking with you toward the Cross of Christ as we journey through Lent together.

As always, I look forward to seeing all of you in church each Sunday and Wednesday! God Bless,

Pastor Dale

There will be a meeting of those interested in the mission trip to Midwest Mission Distribution Center happening during the week after Memorial Day. The meeting will be on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at 6:30 pm.

We will make sure everyone gets registered online with help if necessary and discuss plans for the trip. If you know of anyone in the community that is interested, please have them come. We have reservations for 10 people, but there are still openings. It was a good experience last year and you will find it enjoyable this year.

Please come!

Christians Together!

Update: We now have 6 persons going on the Mission Trip leaving Monday, May 25 though Saturday, May 30, 2020. There is room for 4 more.

This is a chance to help the needy while enjoying the company of fellow church members. You will be doing hands on work on any variety of projects, such as sorting and counting items for various kits, repairing bicycles or sewing machines, or helping to build and finish school desks.

The cost is $200. per person and we are hoping to rent a van so can all ride together. If you have doubts about being able to do this, talk to Clarence Harms, Keith Cunningham, Shirley Schwartz, Kathy Brockmann, Amy or Orvis Genske. We had reservations about doing this, but found we fit right into the routine.

If you have been thinking about going on a mission trip, here is your chance. Contact Amy Genske (920-418-1329) or Clarence Harms (920-418-1209) if you are interested or have any questions.

Easter Flowers will be available for you to purchase In Memory of or In Honor of our loved ones again this year. Please do not put this in the offering plate. Please fill out the form below, attach payment and place it in Joie and Jennifer’s church mailbox or give to Pastor Dale. Thank you in advance for the beautiful flowers that will decorate Faith UMC! The Ring Doorbell is installed. During the week, all doors will be locked at all times. If you need to

enter, please ring the bell and wait for someone to let you in. You can communicate through the

doorbell.

The Trustees have made the decision for security purposes, that the only doors that will be open

on Sunday will be those that lead into the narthex, from the parking lot and the west side by the

bell. The Trustees continue to work on future security plans.

Trustee’s January 2020

1. A Ring doorbell has been gifted to FUMC from Rock the Block and has been installed. This is so

office workers know who is coming into the building.

2. AED is being updated with new pads and batteries.

3. We are getting bids on a water heater with power vent for the parsonage. We have water

leaking from the old water heater. We have one bid at $1500.00.

4. The parsonage is having carpets cleaned professionally.

5. Trustees reconfigured the window frames, we are getting a new bid from Tri City Glass to try to

lower cost of window replacement. We are waiting for the bid.

6. Trustees are looking into church security during the church service. We want to develop a plan

and a course of action. Ken Yingling is going to attend a 2 day church seminar on church

security in March to get some ideas.

7. The heat in Pastor Dale’s office has been fixed, we are looking into the thermostat in the

Fellowship Hall on the north side.

PUSH Cooking Challenge Youth managed to navigate their way around a kitchen with some ra-ther unique challenges: switching kitchens midway through, hoping on one leg, singing happy birthday, talking like a pirate and utilizing SPAM. This activity has been becoming a staple for the youth in the wintertime. One of the cool things about this activity, is we use the high school and the PUSH Youth Group name and Faith UMC name gets out a little more.

Next Activity: March 8th - Trampoline Park
