In additi on to being a talented cabinet maker, Frits Henning-sen was a brilliant furniture designer. Aft er completi ng his training as a cabinet maker in 1911, he travelled around Eu-rope, gaining experience before returning home to Copen-hagen and starti ng his own company in 1915. As a member of the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers’ Guild, he took the initi a-ti ve to stage and arrange furniture exhibiti ons in Denmark. Frits Henningsen had a vibrant personality, and was parti -cularly discerning about whom he would work with. Carl Hansen was therefore both proud and excited when Frits Henningsen chose to form a partnership with the newly formed furniture company. The successful Windsor Chair se-ries was one of the fruits of this partnership.

Like the work of his colleagues Kaare Klint and Ole Wan-scher, Frits Henningsen’s work is rooted in classic craft sman-ship traditi ons while also achieving a design expression with broad appeal – an expression his Heritage Chair clearly il-lustrates.

Frits Henningsen’s Heritage Chair comes with an upholstered seat and back made from a variety of fabrics or leathers, and oak or walnut legs. Matching footrests are also available.
