DR TAMMY HODGSKISSTammy is the Curator at the Origins Centre. She is an Archaeologist and her research focus is on the use of ochre and pigment in the Middle Stone Age in South Africa, and the significant behavioural and cognitive developments in Homo sapiens during that time. She worked at ETHER, giving workshops on heritage management and conservation, and has worked at the South African Rock Art Digital Archive.
PROF AMANDA ESTERHUYSENAmanda is an Associate Professor in the School of Geography, Archaeology and Environmental Studies, and she manages the Origins Centre. She has produced educational materials on Thulamela, Sterkfontein and the Cradle of Humankind. In 2000 she was appointed to the Education Minister’s History and Archaeology task team, and more recently a member of the task team appointed by Minister of Basic Education, Angie Motshekga, to review the History curriculum.
She has published extensively in her area of archaeological research, as well as on the teaching of archaeology.
