Whenapersonreachesahighstateofmaturityandharmlessness,

weinspiregreatpowersofthoughtandemotions,

sogreatinfact,thattheelementsoftheairandtheelementsofthewater

thoughtsandemotionscomesmasteryofthebeingsofairandwater.

Inthisageofenlightenment,itisunderstoodthatmasteryisnot

denialanddissociation,rather,itisflowintelligence,

flowingdesires,thoughts,emotionsandsensationsthatarebeautiful.

Manymiraclesareaccomplishedthroughmastery,andmiraclesindeedareinorder,

notonlytobirthHeavenonEarth,butalsotomaintainit

.

Inmanyoldparadigms,however,masteryconnotedasenseofrestraint,

CONTROLLINGbothinthesenseofholdingbackcertainemotionalexpression,

andnotallowingcertainthoughtsintoconsciousness.

Inthissense,thespiritualmasterhadpoweroverwherehedirectedattention,

i.e.,awayfromthoughtswhicharedebilitatingand

awayfromemotionswhichareweakening.

Theemotionsandthoughtstobeallowedwereonlythosewhichareuplifting.

Negativeemotionsandthoughts,however,oncestopped,

werestoredinthesubconsciousandinthebodytissue,

creatingtensionandunderlyingfeelingsofstressanddiscomfort

.

Onanunconsciouslevelthen,thesethoughtsandemotionscontinuedtocreateandattractnegativesituations.

Thistypeofsuppressedemotionalstress

alsosuppressestheimmunesystemwithinthebody,

andisanunderlyingcauseofsicknessinbothmindandbody.

Wehelpthechildrenoflighttorealizethattohavemasteryoverthebeingsofthewater

elementtherefore,itisnecessarytofirstunderstandhealingemotions,andinthiswayactuallymasterALLoftheemotions

within.

Weinspireawarenessthatwhenemotionschangefromnegativetopositive,

thoughtschangefromnegativetopositiveaswell.

Inthisageofenlightenment,itisfinallyunderstoodthatmastery

isnotthesameasdenialanddissociation.

Inmanytraditional,oftenoriental,cultures,emotionswerestrictlycurtailed;

forexample,allowingbehavioralreleaseofemotionssuchascryingorange

rwasimmediatelyandtotallysquelchedandseenassuresignsofweaknessandlackof

mastery.

Inthesecultureswhereabsolutesuppressionofangerwasdemanded,

peoplehadnotreachedthepointofunderstandingthatnegativeemotions

couldbeDIRECTEDinabeneficialwaythatwouldtransmutethem,

awaythatwouldcreatehealingforthepersonexperiencingthem.

Althoughthetraditionalnotionsofmasterystillhaverelevance

fortheseekerofenlightenmentinthepresentday,theideathatmasteryonlymeansstoppingorholding

backexpressionsofemotionalenergyistoolimitinganddangerous,

consideringthetruenatureofemotions.

Theessentialnatureofemotionsistoflow,likewater.

Usingamartialartsanalogy,emotionalmasteryismorelikeaikido,

whichrequiresflowingwiththeavailableenergyoftheopponent,

orflowingwithnegativeemotionalenergy,toadvantage.

Tocontinuetheanalogy,optimalapplicationof

emotionalmasteryisnotlikesomeformsofkarate,whichrequireaggressivelyattacking,

forcingtheissue,toovercometheopponent,

ormaliciouslyunleashingnegativeemotionalenergy.

flowsafelywithunconditionalloveandempathy,thesefeelingsheal,

andthenegativethoughtsandmemoriesconnectedtothemalsotransformintopositiveonesonceagain

Byflowingwithwoundedemotionsinasafeandnon-destructiveway,

oldmemoriesrevealhiddenwisdomandblessings,andthesearetheblessingsthatthehigherself

wantedtoembodyinthislife'slessons.

Afterapersonhasfacedtheirdarkestfearsandallowedthemtoheal,

theywillnevercauseharmtoanysentientcreature,forthey

havelearnedtheimportanceofharmlessnessonanextremelydeeppersonallevel.

IntheparadigmwhichreflectsDivineOriginalandPerfectWillofLovemanifestinginpracticalways,thecontrollingofthoughtandemotionbeginswith

thistypeofmastery,andbuildsuponit.

Controlisusedselectively,toallownegativeemotionstoflowENERGETICALLYandINWARDLY,

inwaysthatencourageshealinginsightsandemotionalchanges.

Theseinsightsarethechangesinthethoughtsandfeelingsaboutthesituationthatcausedtheanger.

Whatwasnotunderstoodatthetimeofanemotionaltraumacanbeunderstoodlater,

opensastowhythehigherselfattractedandallowedthesituationtooccurinthefirstplace.

Inlaterreflection,insightsariseastowhatwasreallygoingonwiththeoffendingparentandthesurroundingcircumstances.

Forgivenessandappreciationforthelessonslearnedfromthisexperience

bringsanopeningoftheheartandfaithinlifeonceagain.

Byunderstandinghowfeelingswork,emotionsflowandevolvesafelywithoutbeing

allowedtobeactedoutindestructiveway

s.Itisquiteunderstandableinancienttraditions,

becauseoftheclosehistoricalconnectionbetweentheflaringupoftheemotionofanger

andviolentlyactingouttomaliciouslyharmtheperceivedenemy,

whennodistinctionwasmadebetweendangerousrelease,

versustherapeuticallyactingout,ofemotion.

Masteryinthelargersenseinvolvesselectivelyblockingtheexpressionofsomeemotions;

forexample,remainingtotallyinemotionalcontrolisnecessary

withinaninappropriatesituationalcontextsuchasapublicplace.

Incontrast,freelyallowingunimpededspontaneous

expressionofunpleasantemotionsishealinginatherapeuticorprivatesituation,in

whichnodamagetoothersorselfisdone.

Limitingexpressionsofstrongnegativeemotionslikeangertoapreviously

defined,safe'container'makesallthedifference

betweenahealingoutcomeorchaoticordangerousresults.

Evenmoreatthecruxoftheissueofselectivemastery

wouldbetheexampleofexpressingangerbypoundingapillow

Whentrueharmlessnessisattained,

thebeingsoftheairandofthewatersrespondtotheintuitivewill,thought,

andenlightenedemotionsthatflowthroughachildofDivineBeing.Asthedarkpolarityoffeelingsaremastered,

thentheotheremotionalpolarityisattainedandmastery

overtheelementsofairandwaterarepossiblethroughtheuseofWill.
