Extended Opportunities logo The logo consists of two elements; the graphic and the type. Both elements should always appear together in this form. The logo is made from PMS 282 Blue and PMS 226 Pink. Never re-create the logo, always use the master artwork supplied.

Reversed/white-outThe reversed version of the logo is used out of dark colours, and/or when it is difficult to read over colours.

BlackWhere it is not possible to use colour, the black version of the logo is used.

Exclusion zoneAlways allow a clear area of at least the height of graphic around the logo. No other elements should appear within this exclusion zone.

Minimum size The logo should never be reproduced smaller than 45mm wide. Never change the logo proportionately.

Logo - Correct Usage / Partner logo’sThe Extended Opportunities logo

Correct usageThe elements should never be used separately and no part of the logo should be removed.

The relationship between the elements should never be changed.

The logo should never be reproduced in different colours.

The typeface should never be changed.

Do not create your own reversed version of the logo.

Always reproduce the logo using the master artwork supplied.

Placement of the logoThe colour version of the logo should always appear on a white background, or if placed on a solid colour the reversed/white out logo should be used.

The logo should always appear in the top left corner.

The logo can be placed in the centre of the page when placed on the back cover of collateral.

Placement of a partner logoPartners logo’s should always be placed below the Extended Opportunities logo, on a white background, or at the bottom of one of the gradient backgrounds. [See colour palette]

Partner logo’s must NEVER be larger than, or have more dominance on a page than the Extended Opportunities logo.

When necessary you can use a white arc to house several logo’s, but where possible use the gradient backgrounds, as suggested above.

Typefaces

Which font to use?

All copy should be displayed in Helvetica Neue, with exception to highlighting elements. In this case Action Jackson should be used sparingly.

Helvetica Neue 65 Medium is used for main headings and document titles.

Helvetica Neue 65 Medium or Helvetica Neue 75 Bold are used for sub headings throughout documents, however, these must be substantially smaller.

Helvetica Neue 45 Light is used for body copy and is to be set at 11pt, unless stated otherwise. Body copy is 100% black, unless on a dark background when the copy should be reversed.

When producing collateral for the web or use on cross-platform applications, such as MS Word and PowerPoint Arial should be used instead of Helvetica Neue.

Action Jackson should never be substituted with any other font.

Fonts can be supplied on request.

Colour Palette

Which colours to use?

The colour palette is broken into primary and secondary colours.

The primary colours are taken from the logo, which are PMS 226 Pink and PMS 282 Blue.

The secondary colour palette, is to be used alongside the primary colours.

The Extended Opportunities brand has three clear audiences, these are distinguished by colour.

Collateral for children: you can use a mixture of all the colours, creating a playful and exciting, but tasteful graphic.

Collateral for parents: use orange as your dominant colour.

Collateral for providers: use blue as your dominant colour.

Within the usage of colours the brand also has gradients which are to be used within collateral for backgrounds and to reinforce the brand colours. The gradients are downloadable on request.

All text spreads are to be designed with a minimum 10mm white border edge, unless stated otherwise. You can create a tab effect, like this document, this can house logo’s if nessassary.

Imagery

Choosing your imagery and placing them into your document

Imagery should be chosen carefully.

All imagery across all collateral should convey the diversity and vibrance of the nations communities. To focus on extra curriculum activities of all sorts, this could include sporting activities, music, academic etc. Include children of all ethnicities, cultures, gender and social backgrounds. Make sure to include children of all ages ranging between the ages of 5 years to 18 years.

Your images should be colourful, energetic, positive and fun. Always try and link your imagery with the copy and make the page interesting.

Always frame an image, whether within an ‘arc’ or within a circle. The thickness of the frame is to be a minimum of 5mm. You can double up the border as shown opposite by using two colours. You can exaggerate the circular swoop by adding a colour or gradient [see opposite].

The arc, silhouettes and other elements

The Arc The ‘arc’ was created by taking the bottom part of the ‘X’ in the Extended Opportunities logo. This reinforces the brand structure and recognition.

All documents should have the ‘arc’ on the cover. This houses an image if required, or it can also be used to place longer document titles.

The arc should never be squashed or stretched to fit a page. The arc should be re-sized proportionately to fit the piece of collateral.

Backgrounds The background(s) of documents should be built up using the gradients from the colour palette. You can also introduce the arc into the background over the gradient, to break up the colours and to create white space on the page.

Silhouettes The silhouettes can be used to create an inviting and playful extra to a page layout. They are to be used sparingly on documents and NEVER use the same silhouette twice on the same page. Where possible try and link the silhouette to the subject matter.

The silhouettes can only be shown in white or one of the primary colours. You can create subtle layers using 10% tints of the primary colours.

Cover designs and formats

The logo should always appear in the top left corner, as shown opposite. With the correct clearance given around the logo. The logo should always be housed within the white arc graphic and have the document title underneath in the primary blue taken from the colour palette. The white arc graphic should be outlined by the documents dominant colour.

Where possible an image should be placed in the bottom right corner, this should be housed within the arc graphic and outlined with the dominant colour.

The other elements are flexible and can be moved to suit your design and format. Never stretch or squash the arc or any other element, re-size proportionately to suit your design and format, as shown opposite.

Depending on the audience and subject matter, the dominant colour will change. Opposite are two examples, top, is a leaflet cover for parents, so the dominant colour is orange from the colour palette. Bottom, is an on-screen guidance document for providers, and so the dominant colour is blue, from the colour palette.

All interactive/digital collateral is to be created in an A4 landscape format, unless stated otherwise.
