HEYHOUSES ENDOWED C.E. PRIMARY SCHOOL
Letter 75 May 31st 2020.
Dear Children,
A lovely sunny Sunday, I hope you have enjoyed it. It is definitely paddling pool weather and
time to get out your water pistols, super soakers, hosepipes – anything you can soak your
family with! No one needs to worry, it dries quickly!
I have come to write my letter because it is cool inside and I had got very hot in the garden.
Our garden no longer has a green lawn, it is somewhere between yellow and brown!
Still it is a sign we have had lots of sunshine and that is good, we had so much rain last
Autumn we have earned this dry weather. I can almost hear the scientists out there
groaning! I know lots of meteorological conditions create weather, but it is good to have
sunshine in lockdown, it makes it seem a lot better. That was a very big word I just used-
hope you are impressed. We all need to learn new words, however old we get and I always
tell you, good words make your writing more interesting.
I wonder what you have been writing lately? Over the next few weeks, the teachers have
planned some lovely work for all of you. They are helping to ensure you can still have MAD
Festival, in a new different
2020 way. Although theatre
companies cannot come to
school, we can direct you to
lots of things to watch and
experience. Drama can still
happen, and even better, you
get to play ALL the parts!
There, you cannot be fed up
you got one line!
And there are so many art projects the teachers have planned you will be painting and
making all day long, after your Maths and English!
Music will also still happen; we have found lots of websites and links which will bring South
American music to life for you. I think you will love the happy beat of South American
MAD 2020
Through the Rainbow
carnival music and then there is the beautiful sound of Andean pipe music. You are going to
expand your brains with this topic. It is a huge continent and lots to discover.
The Rainbow mountain in Peru. (And yes, close by in Darkest Peru, lived Paddington’s Great
Aunt Lucy!)
And then there is the Amazon River and the Rainforest.
And the wildlife.
We will learn a lot in the next few weeks. If you find something out that you would like to
share please send it to me in an email.
This statue is so impressive. Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Today is a special Sunday in the Church’s year. Today is Pentecost or Whitsunday, 50 days
after Easter.
At Pentecost Christians remember the Holy Spirit being sent into our world.
I have included two paintings, one is a famous painting of Pentecost by the artist El Greco,
the other is a modern one showing the moment the Holy Spirit appeared. Whether in
classical art or modern art the coming of the Holy Spirit is clearly a special moment for
everyone who had gathered. The church readings for today also show the POWER of the
Holy Spirit, the CHANGES it made were clear for all to see.
More than ever before, our world needs the
power of the Holy Spirit to comfort and
strengthen.
I hope this Pentecost we are all able through
prayer and quiet times to know the strength
of the Holy Spirit in our lives, helping us to be
the best person we can be. As our school
mission statement says,
"We seek to enable children to reach their full potential educationally, spiritually and
socially, so that they may become all that God has created them to be"
Through the Holy Spirit we are strengthened in this task of becoming all that God created us
to be. Through prayer we gain strength and comfort in difficult times.
More of your news tomorrow, thank you for sending it in.
Keep emailing and writing to me, I do love reading what you are doing.
Remember, be patient and let’s do things safely.
Keep in touch…KEEP SMILING … and keep washing your hands.
With my love,
Mrs Hodgson
Oscar has grown some wonderful vegetables. I received a lettuce today, I am going
to have it for my tea. Thank you Oscar!
