Healthy Ireland Framework Action 2.2

‘Local health partners will engage with local authorities in their work to address local and community development, with the aim of co-ordinating actions and improving information-sharing for improved health and wellbeing’

HSE Representatives on Local Community Development Committees Local Authorities have a history of improving population health and the new

LCDC structures present a further opportunity for joint working and engagement

HSE is a key stakeholder in community development and LECP planning process – opportunity for joined up planning across shared priorities including improved Health and Wellbeing

2015 H&WB Operational Plan includes commitment for the co-ordination of Healthy Ireland input to the LCDCs

HSE representation on nearly all of 33 LCDCs.


LECP planning processes well advanced in some areas with very good engagement and collaboration

A HSE LCDC Representatives event was held in May with representatives from DOH and

HSE developing a resource document to support LCDC representatives based on the Marmot (2010) Report which identified 8 areas where actions are likely to be most effective in reducing health inequalities


Aim is to identify a set of focus areas / priorities in which action can Appointments of Heads of Health and Wellbeing within each CHO will provide an opportunity to further develop this work and build on the existing strong foundations already in place with Local Authorities
