March has now arrived and it should be the time for new growth, planting seeds, nesting birds and sunshine. As I write this article, I can tell you it is anything but! I'm sitting looking out of my window at snowflakes falling onto frozen earth.

We did have a glimmer of spring a week or so ago and I was able to get in my garden and start the preparation for my flowering plants. Now, it all sits under a thin blanket of snow waiting for the warmer weather.

I am also hopefully watching all my nesting boxes for any interest the birds might show. I have one right outside my living room window and although it is yet to be inhabited I have

seen two colourful blue tits giving it the once over – who know they might make their home there and I will be able to watch from the comfort of my armchair as the little ones emerge and take their first flight.

I hope the cold weather has not put you off visiting us here in Uxbridge. You will stay cosy and warm within the two shopping centres as you shop for sandals, swimming costumes and summer dresses in anticipation of some warm weather.

Or, if all else fails, book that holiday in warmer climes. I was watching a programme on TV the other day where people are going abroad to escape the winter months. They rent out their house for the two or three

months they are away which pays for them to be somewhere warm and sunny escaping the very worst of the winter here in the UK.

I'm not sure it's for me, as I like the changing of the seasons, snuggling up indoors during December, January and February, going for walks when the sun is shining. I'm not so keen on the cold blasts we have been having though and have invested in two bobble hats to keep out the cold.

There is nothing like coming home after a walk to make you appreciate central heating at its best.

But when all is said and done spring is definitely on it's way the daffodils and snowdrops are evidence of that.

We have some new equipment for you to try out courtesy of Nexen who gave us a donation last year. We bought three new scooters and a wheelchair with their donation and they will soon be put into service for customers to use.

Wishing you all a warm spring.

Sue Johnson – Operations Director.
