Reverend Mccoyz eBefore I give the invocation, Kike asked me Just

to touch on Sam Shapiro who died Monda?. And Just reading

about him, how he has touched the Iife of both oemocrat and

Republican - you know. there is a Bible scripture in

Genesis that a man lived to be 969 yearsv and that man's

name was Methuselah. Herev Sam Shapiro *as the Governor of

this state Just for seven months. And it isnet how long

you live. It isn#t the quantity of life, but it*s the

quality of life that you livev and it seemed like that Sam

Shapiro had that type of life that God gave him; that he

was a humble man; that he was a Ioving man; that he was a

kind man. And one of the poems that I love so much is a

poem by Rudyard Kipling it says that, #ou can walk witb

kings and never lose the human touch. Kindness is one of

the attributes of love and certainly when a person has

lovem he certainlp has to be kind. And soT we pray to God

tbat his soul will rest in peace and tbank God that he

walked by this wa#. And some of those who are vounger ones

out here in the House. some of ?ou who are Mounger ones,

that #ou wilt pick up... pick up the mantle that he

dropped. Let it fall on you that you who have given your

life to serve în the Legislature that you will be the kind

implementation. A Bill passed under this Subsection le1

(2) shall not be subject to actîons by the Governor under

Subsection (d1 or (el of Section 9 of Article IV af this

Constitution but sball be sublect to actions under

Subsection lal. (b) or (c) of that Sectlon. For the

purpose of this Subsection (el, unit of local government

shall have the meaning ascribed to it in ârticle VIIv

Section t of this Constitution. (F) The Speaker of the

House of Representatives and the President of the Senate

shall sign each Bill tbat passes both Houses to certify

that tbe procedural requirements for passage have been met.
