This is how children from class 5 play hide and seek

Children choose a

seeker called ‘ebe’

Ebe counts while the others hide1 2 3Bir - İki - Üç

When ‘ebe’ finishes counting she/he tells a rhyme.

‘Önüm arkam sağım solum sobe saklanmayan ebe.’

It means you are caught if you are near my front,back,right or left and if you are not hiding you will be the next ‘ebe’

When the seeker-ebe finds someone he/she says

………… ‘sobe’(child’s name)

If one of the hiders comes ,touches the wall and says ‘sobe’

• All the others shout ‘Çanak çömlek patladı.’

• It means all the pots and crockeys are broken come out of your hiding places.

It will be an interesting experience to play hide and seek ‘saklanbaç’ in

Turkish
