5. FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES

Spillage If spilt (bulk), contact emergency services where appropriate. Wear splash-proof goggles, nitrile/viton gloves, aType A (Organic vapour) respirator (or Full-face Air-line respirator in confined areas), coveralls and rubber boots.Ventilate and clear area of all unprotected personnel. Absorb spill with sand or similar, collect and place insealable containers for disposal.

Handling

Store in cool, dry, well ventilated area, removed from oxidising agents, acids, alkalis, direct sunlight, heat orignition sources, foodstuffs, out of direct sunlight and out of the reach of children. Ensure containers areadequately labelled, protected from physical damage and sealed when not in use. Check regularly for leaks orspills. Large storage areas should have appropriate fire protection.

Storage

Before use carefully read the product label. Use of safe work practices are recommended to avoid eye or skincontact and inhalation. Observe good personal hygiene, including washing hands before eating. Prohibit eating, drinking and smoking in contaminated areas.

PRODUCT NAME BLUREZ EPIMAX 575 (COMPOUND)

Chemical Stability Stable under recommended conditions of storage.Conditions toAvoid

Avoid heat, sparks, open flames and other ignition sources.

10. STABILITY AND REACTIVITY

Material to Avoid Incompatible with oxidising agents (eg. hypochlorites, peroxides), acids (eg. sulphuric acid), alkalis (eg.hydroxides), heat and ignition sources.

Decomposition May evolve toxic gases (carbon oxides, hydrocarbons) when heated to decomposition.HazardousReactions

Hazardous polymerization is not expected to occur.

Health HazardSummary

Irritant - low to moderate toxicity. Use safe work practices to avoid eye or skin contact and vapour inhalationduring the curing process. Skin sensitisation may result from exposure. Skin sensitisation is by far the mostcommon effect of epoxy resin exposure in industry. Due to product form (paste), the potential for an inhalationhazard is reduced. The cured resin is considered non toxic.

Eye Irritant. Exposure may result in lacrimation, irritation, pain and redness.Inhalation Irritant. Over exposure to resin whilst curing may result in mucous membrane irritation of the nose and throat,

coughing, possible sensitisation with asthma-like symptoms and pulmonary oedema at high levels.Skin Irritant. Contact may result in irritation, skin rash and dermatitis. Sensitisation is also common with exposure to

epoxy resins.Ingestion Low toxicity. Ingestion may result in headache, nausea, vomiting, gastrointestinal irritation and diarrhoea.Toxicity Data EPOXY RESIN (25068-38-6)

LD50 (Ingestion): 2 - 19 g/kg (rat) LD50 (Skin): > 20 mL/kg (rabbit)

product, adverse health effects may be avoided by the use of appropriate engineering controls and/or personalprotective equipment. If welding, wear a Class P2 (Metal fume) respirator and depending on the nature of thesurface being welded, additional protection (eg. for organic vapours/acid gas) may also be required. A Class P1(Particulate) respirator is recommended if dust is generated.

EPOXY - PHENOXY RESINS AND POLYURETHANES: Where spray painting with two or more component epoxyresins or polyurethane paints is undertaken, an employee shall wear a air-line respirator, full length chemicallyresistant coveralls and gloves. Further, if an individual is to enter an enclosed booth where a vapour or gas curingprocess is occurring, an air-line respirator is required. Once cured, these resins are considered non toxic.

RESPIRATORS: In general the use of respirators should be limited and engineering controls employed to avoidexposure. If respiratory equipment must be worn ensure correct respirator selection and training is undertaken.Remember that some respirators may be extremely uncomfortable when used for long periods. The use of airpowered or air supplied respirators should be considered where prolonged or repeated use is necessary.

HEALTH EFFECTS FROM EXPOSURE:It should be noted that the effects from exposure to this product will depend on several factors including: frequencyand duration of use; quantity used; effectiveness of control measures; protective equipment used and method ofapplication. Given that it is impractical to prepare a Chem Alert report which would encompass all possiblescenarios, it is anticipated that users will assess the risks and apply control methods where appropriate.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT GUIDELINES:The recommendation for protective equipment contained within this Chem Alert report is provided as a guide only.Factors such as method of application, working environment, quantity used, product concentration and theavailability of engineering controls should be considered before final selection of personal protective equipment ismade.
