Proportional is equivalent to an analog-based transmitter.

The graph shows the relationship between input and output signals.

IntelliPacks also allow for a REVERSE acting output as well.

The IntelliPacks add many features beyond simple proportional output;

This capability makes IntelliPacks the most versatile transmitters on the market.

Transfer Functions

9

For square root output, click the option button.

Square root functions are common for flow rate measurements.

Differential Pressure Meters The square root of the output

signal determines the flow rate.

IntelliPacks offer a user-friendly 25 breakpoint linearizer.

Just enter the input and output signal relationship in the table.

Things you can do with a Linearizer

– Gain and Bias - Signal Limiter– Sensor Linearization– Tank Characterization– Magnitude/Absolute value

All information is stored in the IntelliPack module and saved to a file or printed out. If the file or printouts are lost, the IntelliPack can tell you where it came from!

You can select a number of input samples for a runtime average. Each sample is equal to 100 milliSeconds so 16samples equals 1.6 seconds.

This helps filter noisy signals, especially with thermocouples.

Load Cell Inputs

Also for basic Inputs such as Pressure Transducers, Torque Converters, Level and Vibration Sensors.

•True Ratiometric Conversion - The A/D Input reference is generated from the Excitation voltage and is simultaneous with the input samples.

•Sense Leads to boost the Excitation at the Bridge preventing voltage losses from lead wire resistance.

•Auto Tare Feature to zero out any offsets or dead weights.

•Rcal shunt calibration allowing manual calibration at 60-110% of input range.

•Bipolar Inputs for both Tension and Compression modes.

•Upscale lead break detection.

•Can support up to 4 Load Cells, 350 Ohms each at 10V Excitation.

Page 13: High Performance Intelligent Signal Conditioners

13

Strain Gauge Inputs

•Same electrical features as Load Cell type inputs plus:

•Built-in bridge completion circuits to convert Half to Full and Quarter to Full Bridges.

•Automatically calculate Strain ranges using complex parameters including Instrument Gauge Factor, Gauge Resistance, Poisson’s Ratio and Lead Wire Resistance.

•Program includes Zero Balance to Null out any offsets created by unbalanced bridges.

•Comprehensive User Manual detailing seven Strain Gauge bridge type Inputs.

Deviation Alarm

Pos. Dev. Limit

Neg. Dev. Limit Input 1 with respect

to Input 2

Graph shows Input 2 at steady state. When Input 1 exceeds the deviation limitthe relay trips. Depending on which option was selected from the software, the relay will either alarm on a positive deviation, negative deviation or bothfor absolute deviation.

Page 15: High Performance Intelligent Signal Conditioners

15

Select positive, negative or absolutedeviation. Then enter the desireddeviation magnitude and deadband. Both inputs must be configured for same input type and range option.Deviation alarms are useful for:- Tank temperature monitoring

(top/bottom differential )- Conveyor speed control (assembly line)- PH balance of a chemical batch- Alarm verification (critical alarms)

Peak / Valley Alarm

Input

time

Threshold

Dropout

Peak

Peak/valley detection is not engaged until the threshold is exceededfor the specified time delay. This allows filtering of steady state conditions. When this criteria is met, the IntelliPack samples the input for a peak or a valley and alarms when the specified deadband is exceeded.

Time delay

Peak/Valley Alarm (Peak)

Page 17: High Performance Intelligent Signal Conditioners

17

Eliminate false trips of steady state conditions and transients by adjusting start value and time delay.

Deadband designates the minimum magnitude of the peak or valley signal. Capture the signal you want instead of an unwanted signal.

Useful Peak/Valley Alarm Applications- Determining chemical reaction completion- Testing aerosol cans (peak pressure)- Torque monitoring (alignment of nut & bolt)

Rate-of-Change Alarm

time

InputTemp.

Rate-Of-Change Alarm

t

TAlarm

The IntelliPack samples and averages the input signal 10 time per second. If the average of the ten samples exceeds the user-defined rate then the IntelliPack will trip the relay. The rate-of-change and dropout values can beadjusted in the field using the IntelliPack’s front-panel push buttons.

Page 19: High Performance Intelligent Signal Conditioners

19

Rate-of-change alarm operates on “absolute” rate. Time base is fixed at 1 second. Alarms occur with a positive or negative rate-of-change.

The dropout value disengages the relay from the alarm state.

Useful Rate-of-Change Applications- Temperature monitor in batch processes- Flow Rate (pump cavitation or broken pipe)- Motor speed control

Window/Band-Pass Alarm: A high and low limit is associatedwith each relay. Individual dead-band values are applied to eachsetpoint.

Units with dual relays can have up to four setpoints.

Combining four setpoints in one module allows for early high and low warning indication before a critical shutdown alarm occurs.

Diagnostics are enhanced when the software is online to reduce downtime.

Software shows the status of input and output signal values.

Helps identifies burned-out LED’s and if relay is operational.

You can override the output signal via a slider bar to verify operation of the output signal. This option also helps determine system response to a known output signal.
