HIGH PERFORMANCE SWIMMING COACH

achieving programme? • establish a framework in which a pathway can be developed for athletes and

coaches in a progressive manner ultimately resulting in high performance outcomes?

The Western Australian Institute of Sport (WAIS) has a rare and exciting opportunity to join a world-class sports Institute that values people and excellence. WAIS and Swimming WA is seeking an experienced and process-driven high performance swimming coach who can contribute to the success of Western Australian swimmers in their preparation for Tokyo 2020 and beyond. In 2012, the Western Australian Institute of Sport announced a long-term funding commitment of one of its flagship programs, swimming. With the support of Swimming Australia and Swimming WA, two High Performance Training Centres (HPTC) were established between 2013-2014, with the aim of providing extensive resources and development opportunities for high performance coaches and athletes in Western Australia. The long- term high performance strategy set in 2012, included the potential to expand to four HPTC’s over an eight year period. In 2016, WAIS announced further

funding for swimming, which would see the addition of a 3rd HPTC in the Perth metropolitan area, commencing in April 2017.

WAIS is seeking expressions of interest from swimming coaches to build and develop a new High Performance Training Centre in Western Australia. This unique and special opportunity will provide the selected coach the ability to partner with key stakeholders in the Australian swimming landscape, including Swimming Australia and Swimming Western Australia. With an opportunity to shape the swimming direction and performance outcomes in Western Australia, the selected candidate will have oversight of the whole athlete and coach development pathway at the High Performance Training Centre. The position includes mentoring coaches who work with athletes in the underpinning Club programmes as well as identifying talent for future transition in the senior programme. WAIS seeks expressions of interest from coaches who have the following experience:

• coaching a pool of athletes to an international standard • head coach in a team environment, building a team, and mentoring assistant

coaches • integrating sport science into the daily training environment • high performance coaching qualification (such as Gold licence in Australia or

international equivalent) The High Performance Training Centre will be operational from May 2017. The start date is flexible. Salary will be negotiated with the successful candidate.
